I imagine since he's so close to Duke and UNC that he's taken a number of unofficals. I'd still want the wining and dining though.

According to Hoops Weiss, Tobias Harris, a 6'8" skilled forward out of Long Island, is visiting us (unofficially?) next week. He's 2010.

I'm not sure how accurate this info is, but the NC editor for the HoopScoop says the word on the street is that Duke may be a lot closer to getting verbal commitments from 6'8 Jr Josh Hairston from Spotsylvania (Courtland) VA, who is ranked #22 nationally in the junior class by the HOOP SCOOP, and 6'1 Jr Tyler Thornton from Washington (Gonzaga) DC, who is ranked #39 nationally in the junior class by the HOOP SCOOP, than most people realize.

Would this be the same editor who claimed Greg Monroe was a lock for Duke?

In addition to Roscoe Smith and Nate Lubick unofficially visiting Georgetown this (current) weekend, there is a guard by the name of Naadir Tharpe visiting as well (at least per Scout). He is class of 2011 I believe, seems to be going to Brewster Academy this year and, if I am reading the numbers correctly, averaged over 27ppg as a freshman at a HS in Mass.

Good info and some really good recruits. Especially Roscoe.

Tharpe,i believe is a class of 2010 reclassifying as a 2011 at Brewster. played with lubick and Erik Murphy on NE playzz aau team. Never seen him play but im told as a 2011 he would be a top 5 point guard in that class.

someone on rivals saying hairston to take unofficial to UVA this weekend. This would go along with Hairston's recent comments where he said he planned to revisit some of the schools on his list. He has also said he plans to visit ohio st. for football game this fall. I personally do not take that hoopscoop report seriously. Supposedly, hairston was supposed to commit to duke 2 months ago and obviously he did not. I think Hairston remains true to his word and verbals sometime in next 2 months.

We'll see how it plays out, but some have speculated (that's really all recruiting rumors are most of the time) that both could pull the trigger that weekend.

We'll see how it plays out, but some have speculated (that's really all recruiting rumors are most of the time) that both could pull the trigger that weekend. So now it's "in a few weeks" when they'll commit to Duke. I seem to remember this timeline: 1. Hairston to commit day after Dawkins did. 2. Hairston to commit sometime in same week Dawkins did. 3. Hairston to commit in same MONTH Dawkins did. 4. Hairston to wait for Thornton to visit--and then both will commit. 5. Both will commit prior to Coach K leaving for Vegas to start Olympic Team Camp. 6. Both to commit prior to Coach K leaving for China for Olympics. 7. Both are silents--and will commit to K upon his return from Olympics. 8. Now it's the visit in a few weeks. It's simple--they will take visits-as most recruits do. If they like it somewhere--they'll think about it-but there will be other visits taken as well and other programs have a shot at getting Thornton and Hairston.

I really want to see us get those two back to Georgetown once more for Midnight Madness. I think we are the logical destination for MM visits for both considering that we're the closest. Given Hairston's stated timeline of wanting to decide before this basketball season, I think if he was still uncommited at that point and came to our Madness festivities we'd have a real shot.
Regardless of Duke fans predicting Hairston's commitment many times over in the last 2-2.5 months, I don't think any of us should feel particularly good about he and Thornton making a visit together. There is, of course, a chance that they have a good visit and both decide to commit on the visit or a day or two after. BUT, if that doesn't happen it's a good sign. And if he's talking about going to OSU for a football game, there's a real chance he holds off on a commitment until at least after that, meaning hopefully he comes to Georgetown once more as well.

Duke just offered Ryan Kelly--and that is no surprise. This recruitment has been one of the worst kept secrets out there.
Josh Hairston has an update with Scout.Com Duke Site.
Braswell has 5 visits set up. Another Scout.com update.
