It's finally draft day!!! Now I have a legit reason to skimp on the work for the afternoon.
I would like to see Utah try and get back in the mix for Roy, but I too think he will go earlier than some are projecting. I'd really like to see him play for a good team and coach. (If I had my way he would go late in the first round to the San Antonio Spurs! And I think Pat would be an excellent pick for the Spurs too. A younger Bruce Bowen/energy guy.)
GO ROY, PAT, JON & TYLER!!!!! GO HOYAS!!!!!

What time will the picks actually start, 7:30 or 8?
I'm supposed to be some place until 9 and I can't decide if I should try to get out of it or not. Do we think they'll get through more than 10 picks before 9 p.m.?

Do we think they'll get through more than 10 picks before 9 p.m.? The first pick will be shortly after 7:30 (EST) and there are five minutes between picks in the first round and two minutes in the second round. SO they should be on pick 16 or 17 by 9:00.

It is crap and I too am excited that it is almost over. On the flipside, while wasting time tracking dubious information and projections I just learned that Roy's middle name is Denzil. I would have used that earlier if I had known.

Per Simmons live draft last year (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/070629), pick 15 occurred on or shortly before 9:07, and the draft did start shortly after 7:30. So unless you think Roy's going at 12 to the Kings (I don't) you should be good. Unless you count that whole travelling time thing, since I'm thinking Roy goes late teens or twenty

With the Pacers picking up the 17th pick, I could see us going Arthur at 11 & Roy at 17.

From Basketball Prospectus:
I don't know how good Roy will be at defending the pro pick and roll, but he was better than people give him credit for in college.

Also from BP's Brad Doolittle. Not a mock, but how he he would choose were he choosing for each team: "9. Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats underachieved under Sam Vincent last season. Without making a move, Charlotte would project as a playoff team in the East next season. Charlotte has a nice core in Gerald Wallace, Jason Richardson and Emeka Okafor. Okafor is expected to become a restricted free agent on July 1, but it's unlikely any team will be able to cobble up enough cap space to make an offer that the Bobcats won't match. That being the case, Charlotte is in need of a center and a scorer off the bench. Ray Felton is a capable point and the bench could coalesce into a nice unit under Larry Brown built around Jared Dudley and Jemareo Davidson not to mention injury returnees Adam Morrison and Scott May. The Bobcats acquired the No. 20 pick from Denver on Wednesday so Michael Jordan can fill both of his primary needs on draft day. There are some upside picks, like Anthony Randolph, that could work here in a different environment but Charlotte needs to win now. The Bobcats are shedding fans rapidly. I like Roy Hibbert here. Hibbert would allow Okafor to slide over to his natural power forward position and the pair would lock down the lane for Charlotte. Doesn't a lineup of Hibbert, Felton, Richardson, Wallace and Okafor sound awfully nice? Bradford's pick: Roy Hibbert" BPNot a surprise the statistical community favors Hibbert more than the scouts; almost all the concerns are scouting related.

Larry Brown doesn't like Rookies -- that's been his MO historically. But if he were going to play a rookie, it would far more likely be a polished, four year starter from a great program with terrific coaching who reached the final four and won two BE conf. titles, than a 19 year old kid who is said to have a lot of upside somewhere down the road.
Charlotte is a likely place for Roy to land.
ANd isn't David Falk Michael Jordan's agent too?
