Duke-Belmont game was a lot of fun. Belmont travels real well. Helped them, I am sure, that WVU, 'Zona, and all other fans in the arena were cheering them on. Duke fans were quite all night. As a team, Belmont is like a slo-mo version of the Hoyas.
Verizon Center was like the Bizarro Center tonight. No advertisements anywhere, no banners from the rafters, and totally different food options (carving stations??? cheesecake??? really???). It was so weird.
Good moment when a Duke fan behind us asked, annoyedly, "oh man, who is this announcer and do you have to deal with him for every game?" We politely said, "Oh, you mean Father McFadden?" She quickly changed her attitude after that!
Haha yeah, it was great hearing him through it all.
No ads anywhere. Less crappy music. No crappy contests. Trivia was always an adventure with multiple incorrect answers (fyi, Hifi, it was Duke*, not the Gators who were the last team to repeat as Nat'l Champs )
WVU fans were friggin' annoying it became harder and harder to cheer for them as the games went on. GO HOOOOOOMEEEE, Mountaineers!
The Belmont game was tremendous. I just wanted to see Duke play really well and see some highlights or for the game to be close and have something to play for. I got both. Good game all around. Paulus tried to flop within teh first few minutes and everyone boo'ed him. Hilarious. I really thought Belmont was going to pull it out after Henderson missed his layin with 48 seconds to go. It was the kind of rim out that never happens unless fate just isn't on your side but he came through the next time.
No beer sales? That was rough. TOTALLY overlooked that part. Happy I still have my cash, however.
