Lost in all the Zizou head-butting were articles buried deep in european sport sections (I read them in L'Equipe, Figaro, IHT, and the Times, ok, the Evening Standard as well) that FIFA is concerned about South Africa's readiness to host the 2010 WC. The biggest concern was around transportation infrastructure and of course, the stadiums and security. Though it is still early on, the articles made it sounds as if contingency plans might have to be developed, including a change in host nation. Australia, Germany, and the US were floated as possible back-up locations. www.iht.com/articles/2006/07/11/sports/rob.phpWith the World Cup now concluded, the thread is closed. Please post any soccer related posts to a new thread.--Admin
