wasn't too bad. had we forced a playoff b/t Sox and the Tribe, might have been more hostile, but when the Yankees threw Wayne Franklin and put Mike Vento in right in garbage time, i joked about how these guys won essay writing contests to play for the yankees and a fenway faithful actually bought me a beer. people were generally cool. i really really liked the surrounding area - very much like wrigleyville. the ballpark itself was eh, those pillars are really irritating and the seats were rough on a 6'3 fella like myself. seats were far back and it still felt like you were right on top of the field - though i was surprised by how little open air seating their was. if i can go back i'd like to sit in the upper deck in right field, those seats seem like they'd be amazing. Nice to see you survived your sojourn to 'Friendly Fenway' ;D

I don't venture much into the baseball threads, but can someone tell me why the Yankees (save Brian Cashman) are so upset at Buck Showalter? sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2179632If home field meant so much to them for the ALDS, why did they pitch Wright instead of Mussina? And why did they pull Jeter, ARod, Bernie, Sheffield, Matsui, Posada and just about every other starter? Seems to me if they had won yesterday, it wouldn't have mattered what happened in the Angels game. Oh well. Hockey starts in two days, so I'm a happy man. Have fun with the baseball playoffs, hope they're exciting. Since this is a prediction thread, I'll stick to the spirit and call: Red Sox, Angels, Cards, Astros --> Angels, Cards --> and a World Series championship for all the hot strippers in St. Louis! (oh...and for the team too, I guess)

"There's a code of honor when so much is on the line," Rodriguez told the New York Daily News.

While the surrounding area is pretty cool, the Fenway area has nothing on Wrigleyville.

(oh...and for the team too, I guess) You said it all Boz--who gives a rip about what Showalter does with his team? There is 162 games in a season--if you don't take care of your own business, it's nobody else's fault. And A-Rod blabbing again to the media with his "insight", UGH Rodriguez doesn't understand why people don't respect/like him within the game--it's simply due to the fact he "acts" like a leader and on a team that has accomplished things WITHOUT him on the team. So why does he act as the "mouthpiece" of the organization?? Just wish the Yankees would shut the hell up, play ball and worry about avoiding another butt kicking at the hand of the Angels. Personally, I'm more concerned with starting Mussina then what Buck Showalter did/didn't do to "help" them. As you said above, why start Jaret Wright if Sunday meant so much?? Anyway, here's to watching the Yankees have to use Aaron Small by 5th inning due to one of Mussina's meltdowns-then they can focus on winning as Small is the good luck "charm". ;D

"Don't show me up."- Kevin Millar That is bush league, but it's also coming from a guy who really has no clue how normal people behave/think. I think Manny only cares about getting hits and winning comes last on his priority list. If he goes 5-5 with a couple of jacks, and they lose, no big deal. The fact Manny or Ortiz have never been dusted by Yankees is a sign of how fragile Torre's psyche is and how afraid he is of starting stuff. There are times to fight and battle and times to brush it off and let the opponent self destruct (A-Rod's taking the bait being one of the key elements in unifying Sox last year). I'd chin Ortiz and then drill him in ribs on next pitch.

Borat, I agree. However, you never see Many acting all holier-than-thou. He may be an idiot, but A-Rod is a hypocrite.

There is no love between Showalter and Georgey Porgey...why the hell wouldn't Buck try to stick it to big george? Hell, I would too. I can just imagine George trying to call Buck and Buck just laughing his ass off.

Cambridge, we may duke in out in the coming series (the Sox will win - I guarantee it ), but this is one point on which we are in complete accord.

Braves 11-0 - perfect sweep. They are Americas team and they will prove it again.

Thank you. This is another point about America's Team that needs to be made - they don't rebuild they reload. They don't sign players - they develop them. They can win with deep pockets or as part of a Multi-National Corporation that greatly restricts the amount of money they can spend on talent. And oh yes Francoeur is amazing - IMHO he will be the Carlos Beltran of these playoffs - minus the losing to the Cardinals and getting signed to a rediculous contract by the Mets parts.

Boz took the words out of my brain.
Except the stripper thing, dunno where that came from.
As for the Braves...well they certainly stormed their way into the playoffs, didn't they? One Ugueth Urbina 8th-inning meltdown away from having to actually fight the Phillies over the last weekend of the season (a fight they would have lost by 6 runs the way both teams were playing at the end)...'Stros in four.

Was that post about the Braves being America's team serious? They can't even fill their own stadium.
