guy, you taught a ballroom dancing class. you performed a ballroom dancing routine at halftime of a division one men's college basketball game. you referred to the ballroom dancers as "my kids." you live in spotsylvania and defend that life choice vehemently. i know enough about you to know that you are toolish beyond words. you are like 3 days away from JTIII filing a restraining order against you. i actually heard he refers to you as "that shifty geek who is always talking about a practice facility on campus" YB JUST GOT SERVED!

And if anyone should know about getting served, it's Velvet "Hot Plate" Elvis. Biggest problem with the Q: no ignore function available.

yeah, it definitely jumped the shark and honestly, the board had better discourse during the Esh era and probably the 1st year of JTIII's era. With the Esh era, there were so many, many things going on for people to debate and go back and forth. With JTIII's first year, it was the same thing. New offense, new coaching style. But from what I see now, hoyatalk cares about what everybody else thinks instead of voicing their own opinion. Its become a fanboy board. Its the reason why i don't post much anymore. Like, there would be times I would just peruse through, and it would a long list of threads of : Chris Doyle thinks the Hoyas are this. Chad Ford thinks the Hoyas are that. Seth Davis says we are this. So and so says we are that. I think with the success the last 2 years, its been more about cheering than it has conversation on the boards. I don't know. Yeah, the board kind of sucks now. Still love the Hoyas, but the board sucks for the most part. You still got some posters holding things down and making great contributions. It will change. Things go in cycles. If somebody from the Hoyas declares early for the NBA, things may pick-up. ;D

I've got one buddy who was obsessed with emailing us the weekly poll ratings as soon as they came out and then complaining about our ranking not being high enough. So much so that even at the end of the season he complained about being ranked 4 instead of 3, below UCLA. Honestly, what does it matter? That said, I still love the board. Far more amusement for me, however, in the non-basketball areas.

Buffalo, I know how you feel.
I grew up in Chicago and I've been a Cubs fan my entire life. I suffered throung the 0-14 start in the mid 90s. I suffered through Jim Riggleman. I suffered through Bartman (and still refuse to think about that play if I can help it, and also continue to argue it should have been fan interference, but that's neither here nor there, I suppose). I suffered through the monster collapse in 2004 when the Cubs were better than in 03 and I suffered through the Dusty/broken Mark Prior/Neifi! era.
I met a friend over the summer who had recently moved to Chicago and had recently become a cubs fan. Yes, at first I was annoyed that he pretended to understand the suffering I and many other Cubs fans had gone through during the past 20 years or so I'd been alive and it bothered me that he wanted to cheer for the Cubs at first because he couldn't possibly be a real Cubs fan like I was.
But then I realized that the time and effort that I spent feeling annoyed by that was ridiculous. yeah, i've been waiting longer than he has, but there are also people who have been waiting longer than I have (in this case, any cubs fan older than 20 who is alive, and some who are dead, I guess). Ultimately, we're all in this together. My friend and I both want the Cubs to win and that's really all that matters.
I guarantee you that there are Hoya fans who have waited longer than you, have been around longer than you, and might, just might, care as much as you do about the team.
I'll save you the suspense, you're not the biggest Hoya fan in the country. Stop acting like you are and that you are some sort of moral authority on how to be a Hoya fan.
Everyone here loves this team and everyone here wants them to win like it's their job. Isn't that enough for you?

The bandwagon would creep out everywhere, I wouldn't be able to go home for at least several years. Lighten up people, sports are fun, don't beat yourselves up (but please keep this thread going, 200% better than the class I'm in right now)

Buff wasn't talking about how he was a better fan than the new comers--he was talking about how the level of discourse has dropped here at Hoyatalk and that the massive influx of newcomers might be the reason. And everyone knows that the only person who can look down on other fans is '007, since he's on a whole 'nother level. ;D

Some of the absurd exchanges on this thread (the Motorola Q!) are awakening memories of the clah-sic CDBD thread from Aught-6. We couldn't catch YB lighting in a bottle twice, could we? Could we?

This doomed to be a pale imitation -- much like the episodes of Seinfeld that tried to recreate the sheer novelty of "The Chinese Restaurant." That said, they were still pretty darn funny, so I say let's do our best!

That's it. I am done with this place. I am incensed at the inflammatory comments regarding Motorola Q owners. I just bought one. YB - any chance you can start teaching ballroom dancing classes again? I am starting to get happy feet and I am feeling the need to break learn a foxtrot step or two....

For those that do want to take themselves back: hoyatalk2.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=bluegray&action=display&thread=1140704208The best part was somewhere around pages 9-11 when HarbinHoya simultaneously objected to the objectification of his daughter yet stated that if the Hoyas won a national championship, and the thread was still going, she would post nude pictures of herself on Hoyatalk. "My daughter just told me that if we keep this thread going through the NCAAs and the Hoyas Win the National Championship, she will post nude pictures on here. I obviously disaprove of this, but hell, Ill put up with just about anything for a Hoya Championship" Bando foolishly called for the thread to be locked after the Florida loss last year . . . which is unfortunate, because he failed to read through the fine print. See, HarbinHoya's daughter never stated that we had to win the National Championship in that season. Now, because the thread is locked, we won't get to see those pictures next year (when based on the discussion, I believe DaughterofHarbinHoya would be of age, I add). And I think we can all agree that posting pictures - nude or otherwise - would be the functional equivalent of HoyaTalk jumping the shark. Therefore, I must now conclude that we've not quite yet jumped the shark (though Hifi is still no better than Brian Bonsall or Scott Baio*). I love the off-season. *Scott Baio on Happy Days. Scott Baio on Charles in Charge was, however, a God among men, at least from season 2 onward.

Hello? It's the Hoyatalk board. If it's Hoyas related or GU basketball-related, you should expect to have it talked about here. You should expect and hope for the broader Hoya fandom to post here. Dont we want more fans? More involved fans? Some of you blowhards act like your s**t doesn't stink, that you're the only ones who have the right to post here. Huh? Maybe your personal venderttas don't get as much attention anymore. Boo hoo. We just made a Damn Final Four!! Our future Hall of Fame Coach has not been extended. He said we have to do something about our 60 year old facilities. His dad repeatedly states he won't stay forever being underpaid and with crappy facilities. And our two best players are thinking of leaving for the NBA. Our program is in flux and there is lots to talk about. I may or may not agree with the rest of the posters, but I'd much prefer to talk about the issues facing the Hoyas than whatever is currently up the butt of Buff, Hifi, Brasky, Tbird or some of these other clowns. Get over it. And there we have it...time of death 9:44AM EDT, Thurs April 12, 2007.

I am an occasional poster and long time reader of this board - I was in the Chat room BOTH times Riley scored 30+ against Miami, but I can't say I was posting back then - I don't belong on this thread - other than to say thank you Hoyatables for linking to the Charlie Daniels post. In four years of reading these boards that still remains the best and I have now put it on my favorites.
Now if anyone could post a video on youtube of the dancers for those of us that weren't there, that would be even better.
