They nailed it on the Utz chips. Also the Wisey's bum has moved his digs for the summer - as he always does - to M Street (I guess he can park down there too) - I last saw him outside of Old Glory.

The Wisey's bum has been gone for 2 years. The last time he sat outside of Wisey's was my freshman year. He's usually on M street now but he's occasionally diagonally across the street on weekends near that church and school.

Ok - to be honest - how many people read the title of this thread and thought "I wonder what health code they violated" ... mmmmm ... Wiseys ...

The Chicken Madness is a good sub, as is the Burger Madness and several others (seriously, has anyone complained about ANYTHING they've ever gotten from Wisey's?). But my favorite has to be the underrated Peggy's Special. I remember living in LXR as a sophomore, and being without a meal plan, I ate at Wisey's at least once a day. Probably took years off my life doing it, but man it was damn good. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I never really got why, but in the folder given to parents of prospective students at George Washington's summer orientations, Wisey's is on the list of recommended places to go for lunch. It's not even that long of a list either. I guess they were looking to round off the "Reasons Your Kid is Editeded They Didn't Get Into Georgetown" list at an even thousand or something.
I think it's somewhat sad that the Wisey's Bum goes by "Wisey's Bum" when he has such an awesome first name. One day while my parents were visiting me at GU, we were walking around M and Wisconsin and he was hanging out on the corner. So I stopped, said hi and we had our normal 30-60 second conversation about basketball. Scared the living hell out of my parents, they just brought that story up when I saw them last weekend as a matter of fact.
(Sidebar: I don't know what kind of school I graduated from where many kids discard Utz chips but swear by Thomas Sweets. Breaks my heart, I'm gonna eat half a bag of those chips with my burger tonight just cause of this.)

But my favorite has to be the underrated Peggy's Special. Excellent call, I've had ONE, count 'em ONE Chicken Madness in my life.* The second time I went to Wisey's, I had the Peggy's Special and it became my go to sandwich for six years running, except before lacrosse games when I have a Gangsta Wrap. (*Which is considered more blasphemous: that in all my trips to Wisey's I only had the Chicken Madness once, or that I went to grad school at GW immediately after I graduated from GTown? I'm thinking the former, because it involved some amount of free will/choice--it's not like every time I went to Wisemiller's they happened to be out of chicken breasts, or the doors were locked so I couldn't get in.) A friend of mine did once spend roughly a week in the hospital as a result of getting a piece of Wisey's chicken finger caught in his throat then making the unfortunate decision to go to the GU Hospital, who through a laughable set of foibles screwed him up much worse. Make matters worse this was in like April and he had to miss about two weeks of class...long story short he couldn't make up all the stuff from classes so as a second-semester senior he had to come back a fifth year (he took it slow) to graduate. However, he never complained about the chicken fingers.

There was always the myth in my time at GU that anyone that eats five burger madnesses in one semester would die (of a heart attack). Actually its not much a myth, but more like a fact.

Screw Peggy and her special. The best Wisey's sandwich is the Bridge Club Sub. The chicken salad is amazing. Everyone I have introduced to it loves it.

However, he never complained about the chicken fingers. Oh man, the chicken fingers w/ fries was an absolute staple for me for years. They were great. I've said this for awhile now: FLHoya = RockawayHoya's long lost twin brother, seperated at birth by 1,000+ miles. And any deli that can put an item on the menu called "Gangsta Wrap" either is out of their mind or has the sack to back up their great food with great names. Wisey's obviously falls under the latter. There was always the myth in my time at GU that anyone that eats five burger madnesses in one semester would die (of a heart attack). Actually its not much a myth, but more like a fact. Proven false. Unless FormerHoya and I are posting from the great beyond. You can count me on that list, too. 5 a month would've been more like it. Screw Peggy and her special. The best Wisey's sandwich is the Bridge Club Sub. The chicken salad is amazing. Everyone I have introduced to it loves it. Remind me again what is on the Bridge Club Sub? I've probably had it (I'm one of those people that has to try everything at least once, unless it doesn't sound the least bit appealing), but I don't remember what's on it. And when I did have it, it obviously wasn't too memorable, and definitely not good enough to crack my starting rotation (Peggy's Special, Chicken Madness, Burger Madness, Steak And Cheese Deluxe, Chicken Fingers/Fries). I will agree with you on the chicken salad, though.

Chicken salad and bacon. I suspect it was simply so good you couldn't handle it and are now in denial.

Just an FYI, at least during the spring the Wisey's bum had a job in Rosslyn. He had one of those funny purple shirts on that said "discover Rosslyn" and was in McDonald's on his lunch break.

It sounds like you guys are speaking of a singular bum. Maybe I'm dating myself, but there was always more than one bum when I was there. To name them they were Mr. Juicy and Tim. I think they retired after my soph year, and these two other more rotund and vocal guys replaced them.
I think the breakfast sandwiches never got as much press as they should have. I think this was because of the competition at Sugar's (what with their large selection of breads).

The guy we are all referring to, if I'm not mistaken, frequently uses the lines "What's up playa?" and "hit me on the way back." If they served the breakfast sandwiches all day (like any decent establishment ought to do) then they would be more well known.

My favorite line he ever said was when a number of attractive girls walked by him "mmmm ummmm ... What I would do if I was 18".

I hear...and this isn't even a joke...that he had a dispute with the people from Wisey's about the placement of the milk crate that he sat on. At that point he angrily decided not to sit there anymore, and instead move to (former)Riggs Bank. It's too bad, because during NSO a few years back he was pointed out on a tour of the campus, and I consider him a campus fixture

Chicken Madness, extra hot. The thing glowed orange/red from all the Cayenne pepper! My mouth is still en fuego.
The only other thing I ate there, and I ate there a lot, was the bacon cheeseburger with extra bacon of course. NOBODY every got that thing, but for 3.75 including the extra bacon (which was about 1.5 inches stacked) you could count on a meat coma within the hour. I know it's not a Tombs / Clydes burger, but it sure beat "Burgers on the Run."
