Wingo's didn't open until my senior year, so I never experienced their burgers. I did try their flatliners . . . ouch.

There's not many places to get good wings in G'town though. I didn't go to Rhino's, especially for wings. Tomb's wings were tolerable. Since you're from Buffalo, where were the best wings in D.C.?
Does Wisey's still sell Jolt and Orangina?

Does Wisey's still sell Jolt and Orangina? There used to be a place called "Little Taste of Buffalo" in the Georgetown Park Mall food court. Until it closed, they had the best wings in DC bar none (plus, Aunt Rosie's Loganberry and pretty good beef-on-weck). It wasn't even close. Of course, it helped the older couple who ran the joint grew up, got married, and raised their kids on Buffalo's West Side (which would make him a GM Powertrain guy, as opposed to a South Buffalo Ford Stamping Plant guy or an East Side American Axle guy). Its amazing how easily so many places across the country butcher such a simple, glorious dish.

Peggy's is the best. I go back once a month or so (living on the Hill ... so far from Wisey's ... good thing I got my girlfriend addicted). Ranking 'em: 1. Peggy's 2. Chx madness 3. Club Sub 4. Burger Madness (Drums: doesn't the urban myth alternatively say that one who eats more than 5 BMs in a semester will endure Bando-like weight gain?) 5. Turkey havarti
When I was at Gtown, there were two full-time WiseyBums (Big Papa and the other guy), and one part-timer who stood in on weekends sometimes. I heard that story about the dispute, too. May or may not be true, but at least that makes it a rumor (as opposed to mere gossip). He also has some personal troubles (living at Alumni Square, then Kober, then N St meant LOTS of conversations to/from Wiseys and/or the Tombs with that dude), so that might have played a role.
FL - deja vu. I had that exact same experience with Big Papa on M St. with my folks over Memorial Weekend. Yes, that 30-60 sec convo about Gtown hoops that makes me feel qualified to say "I KNOW THE WISEY BUM!"
