haha - this might be the best post in this entire thread...lic never denigrates anyone and even he had to lay it on the line and say that the routine was cringe-worthy! did we ever figure out who green-lighted this halftime entertainment?

Bump. Need to discuss the role of the Ballroom dance team at next year's game. The distraction of a top 10 season prevented this from getting fleshed out fully when it was originally posted.

Better/worse halftime entertainment: ballroom dancing or the (now defunct?) Hoya Dance Team?
Discuss.

The greatest thing to ever happen to this thread would be if anyone got it on tape. Quick YouTube search brought up nothing but I hope beyond hope that someone, anyone, has got it hiding away somewhere.
Strummer, you really did miss something spectactular. Spectactularly bad, but spectactular.

Spectactularly bad, but spectactular. You have to think that YB has it on tape. Now for it being on YouTube or available for public viewing...i dont know

I like how we just dress up kids in huge clothes and have them run an obstacle course now. Smart move to use kids. Lowered expectations so no matter what they do, it's not cringe-worthy. If the ballroom dancing routine had been kids, I bet everyone would have thought it to be FANTASTIC. If something is going to suck, better to use someone who isn't supposed to be good. Senior citizen break dancing contest anyone?

Let's not get the other pro sports team in NJ involved: www.nba.com/nets/dance/NETSational_Seniors.html

haha oh wow. definitely did not know such a thing existed Miami Heat have the same thing: www.nba.com/heat/multimedia/goldies_bio.htmlEasily the loudest crowd reaction during Game 6 of their playoff series not involving D-Wade. The routine in the YouTube clip above would be like a 4/10 to the 9/10 routine I saw--which included the Golden Oldies making it rain. Honestly, Miami does a great job of creating an atmosphere at their arena that mirrors their fanbase/location--they treat the game like you went to some dance club on South Beach...loud-ass music, a hype man DJ, stupid white party gimmicks...meanwhile GU games have that d-bag who gives away free oil changes. Here's the scary part--has there been a single other halftime performance/gimmick at Verizon since CD/BD that is even remotely as memorable?

Only the organ donation guy who said GO PITT.
Which I missed because I was in the concourse.

That was the first time, and hopefully the last, that I've booed someone promoting organ donation.

That was the first time, and hopefully the last, that I've booed someone promoting organ donation. During one of the last years with the Coach Who Shall Not Be Named, GU's AD came out promoting organ donation, and made a big show of signing his card. I yelled out "Harvest them now!"

You know what's unfortunate? The Ballroom Dancing team has a website. With pictures. And videos. Unfortunately, they don't have any pictures or videos of their greatest performance.
Someone REALLY needs to remedy that situation. It might be just enough to get us all through a non-election year off-season without another mindless debate about facilities or transfers.

All, We can order Ballroom Dancing tshirts or jackets. The t-shirts even come with a slogan on the back. www.customink.com/designs/gubdtfinal/mhc0-000g-qxp6/hotlink?pc=HL-46120&cm_mmc=hotlink-_-2-_-Body_img-_-designbackCould someone sponsor a "blackout" game in which the entire lower bowl wears these shirts and the horrible pun on the back? Also, the Ballroom Dancing team has an entire page devoted to "quotes." www.georgetownballroom.org/team/quotes. Mysteriously, none from the 2005-2006 school year. Erased . . . from existence. Was this all just a figment of our collective imaginations? (Side note: I remember when we thought that "quotes" were funny. Wow do I feel old.) Harbinhoya's daughter must be about 22-23 now. So she's legal and has that going for her, which is nice. (This was the best part of the thread, hands down.) Suz, how's your family doing? About to have our first here. Exciting and terrifying. I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!
