Yeah now it seems it might be Syracuse and we'd have to play him. At what point do we start worrying that we are getting outbid? The longer this guys the less and less attractive Gtown looks. The first commit is important to get the ball rolling. I can live with losing this bidding battle.

Lampkin is hardly getting me excited. Yes an upgrade at the C position, but he’s no better than a mid tier center in the ‘23-‘24 version of the BE. To me I’d rather a shot blocker at the spot. Lanpkin is a 0.3 blk per game guy in his career.

It seems like a lazy take to say the BE going 6-0 thus far is a referendum on the snubs by the committee. UConn, Marquette, and Creighton have beaten 16, 15, 14, 11, 10, and 9 seeds respectively. 4 of the 6 games the BE team was favored by double digits. No one was disputing the top of our league was good, and these teams if nothing else avoided being upset. But it says nothing of the merits of Seton Hall, PC, or St Johns. Do I think Seton Hall might have won their play-in game vs say Colorado St or Boise St? I do. But beyond that, we aren't likely talking about them making a F4 run.
It just seems silly to me to use one game scenarios to make a claim about the strength of a conference over the course of a season. Is the Ivy League really better than the SEC because their champ (Yale) beat their respective champ (Auburn) in a one game affair? I think the BE was a good league this year with one elite team (UConn), two really good teams (Marquette and Creighton) and then a lot of solid teams in the middle that wound up hurting each other because they beat up on one another. The problem was that out of conference the marquee wins were lacking and the middling teams lost some bad games - Nova vs St Joes, Penn, and Drexel...SJ vs BC and Michigan...Seton Hall vs USC and Rutgers...PC vs Kansas St and Oklahoma...Xavier vs Delaware and Oakland...and even Creighton contributed to that, losing two games to MW teams in UNLV and Colorado St. In that vein, the problem for the BE was the conference did not do well in November and December, and that has to be emphasized going into next year.

I almost read this as he didn’t really want to leave but Cooley’s candor on PT & money forced his hand to leave. This is one I really didn't expect. LIke you said Cooley laying out PT (not so sure about money) pushed him. It will be interesting to see who is coming in on ball to push playing time. No idea what NIL money he had from this past year, but it seems plausible that if he was going to a backup role, the staff told him that number would be reduced in ‘24-‘25?

I thought Rowan would be part of the future. He showed glimpses but struggled at times too.
It does make the lumps last year seem fruitless if we aren’t going to develop guys, but I’m cautiously optimistic that the roster will look better in May than it did at the end of the season. I’ll wait to reserve judgment until the slots are full and the carousel stops.

This is a case where landing a guy early will help land other guys as there becomes a path to believe the team can “win now”. It takes a leap of faith from the first guy and/or an overpay. But if you can get that first domino, it starts the chain reaction.

BE heavy NIT coming…
Maybe a good thing for us to get a jump on the portal if a few of those teams keep playing.

Feels like this year will be the impetus for tournament expansion. It seems inevitable now, despite no fans really clamoring for it. The $ drives the bus.

For their fans, it’ll be a big "what if" wondering how good PC could have been with a healthy Hopkins all year. I think they'd have been a possible second weekend team.
As much as I don't want to say it, they had a really good 3 days at MSG.

The other thing that is not as covered is the BE is going to be much weaker next year, absent some huge transfer classes. Pretty much every team is losing their core, and no one has that great an incoming freshman class.
If we return the 4 core guys we think plus the freshmen and 3-4 quality transfers, our roster quickly rises to one of the top rosters in the league. Whereas it's safe to say ours was no better than bottom third going into this season, and it played out to be even worse than that.
Sure a lot can change from now until next November in terms of incoming/outgoing players for each school, but here's who our peers are losing compared to our loss of Heath, Bristol, and Massoud:
UConn - Castle, Spencer Clingan, Newton, Karaban? Creighton - Alexander, Kalkbrenner, Scheierman, Ainsworth Villanova - Dixon, Moore, Bamba, Ware, Burton Marquette - Kolek, Ighodaro, Jones? St Johns - Jenkins, Soriano, Ledlum, Dingle, Allyene PC - Carter, Oduro, Gaines Butler - Alexander, Telfort, Davis Seton Hall - Richmond, Dawes, Davis, Addae-Wusu Xavier - Olivari, McKnight, Ousmane, Freemantle? DePaul - Terry, Raimey
In terms of the 2024 freshman class, Creighton is the only program with an incoming class near our level. Sure all these schools are capable of landing big time transfers to fill the holes, but I think it's safe to say the overall talent outflow will be greater than the inflow and we should be positioned much better in terms of talent this time next year.

I'm a Cooley supporter, but there are zero excuses going into next year. Anything less than 9-10 wins in the BE is a failure in my book.

If there's any advantage to losing early it's that EC and staff can hit the portal ASAP on their targets without any other distractions.

Book it! The season is done. thankfully. After watching the disaster of missed free throws and dominance by one player, poor passes, no hands under the rim. This could not have been a more devastating loss. I now have serious doubts about Rowan, too many dribble, too slow, too weak. Lots of work ahead. You can also dismiss the argument the empty stands at the phone booth, the Garden was packed and the team played horribly. I don’t know how you can watch that game and that’s your takeaway. The FTs were incredibly bizarre but if we shoot an average clip that would be a tight game down the stretch. Team played hard the second half and adjustments were made. In a year full of losses, several others were much worse.

And cook didn’t even take any. That was beyond bizarre given FTs weren’t an issue this year.

4-17 might have to be an all time record for a team that shot at least 15 FTs.

Bad time to have our worst FT game in recent memory.

Man. Just average FT shooting and this is a two possession game.
