It would be a darn shame if the BE trophy was in the building that day. It would be a shame? That would presumably mean we could be playing for that trophy that day. Unless you think we'll falter down the stretch that is

Tables assuming the plans get done and approved in this time table, what is the next fundraising benchmark to ensure shovels get in the ground immediately thereafter?

Leaving commentary which is more particular to Georgetown than the new conference to the thread I started on this article, I do think this is the first place I have seen it suggested that the new conference will require a PAC/Big 12-style grant of rights for the length of its media deal. Even more than an onerous buyout, that would mean it won't be easy for GU to leave the conference should continued fallout in the ACC or elsewhere lead to better opportunities. It also makes it even more unlikely that UCon would be a candidate for the new league. The emphasis on a sensible footprint for the league all but rules out Gonzaga. I posted this same thought in the other thread. That definitely stuck out to me too.

Most significant to me, aside from feeling alot better about Gtowns basketball as a priority at the school. is the revelation that they want to lock everyone in by binding their media rights to the league for at least the tenure of the first contract. Seems to me that they're fully committed to this league and wouldn't bolt to the ACC for example if something were to go down.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Once again. Post season success should have absolutely NO I repeat NO bearing on whether students show up. (Ok perhaps no bearing is extreme. However not to the degree that everyone is making it out to be. We win. We're a good team) Everyone keeps saying they are "casual fans". Why do they care? This should be a social event for them. They should go because its the "thing to do". Why is it not anymore? We're a perennial top 25 team. The comments on here act like we're freaking our lady of the poor and haven't won a game in 40 years so we shouldn't expect students to come. If you guys who post on this board excuse it I guess the problem is even more dire than we thought.
People have brought up making it more like a party. I agree. For older students of drinking age, strike deals with bars have pregame events. Post game events. Etc. during the game more fun. It's beyond me that this needs to be the case to get people to come but if that's really it then by all means do it.
And before somebody inevitably responds without knowing what I've posted about this in the past, I don't expect miracles. I know attendance will be down for less marquee games. Having both sides mostly full is not a hard thing for bigger games. The fact that for Marquette there were half full is disturbing. That's a game you expect a good crowd. How can we think that these kids are coming to cuse during spring break? I'm at a loss. I don't get it

Was not expecting students to show up last night or any of the other non marquee games..nor should anyone. Sucks, but that's the reality unfortunately. .Seeing them not show up to Marquette like games is the most disturbing and what i've been mad about the most. As we've discussed ad nauseum something needs to change. Something must be done.
I honestly have no confidence that these kids will return to campus early from spring break on the 9th. I am actually quite nervous about this.

I don't think this is true. The project already has all the approval it needs from the neighborhood. They had their opportunities to object and we have cleared those hurdles. I think it's more of a fundraising issue. I think the 9 months is so we can raise at least another 10 million before shovels go in the ground. I was also under the impression that the designs presented to the Old Georgetown Board and the Capitol Planning Commission (or whatever) had to be in an extremely detailed and fairly final state. If we had already gotten to that level of planning, then the purpose of this "final design phase" seems a bit ambiguous. If I were in a cynical mood, I'd say this press release was intended solely as a distraction to justify a lack of visible progress over the next nine months. Equally disconcerting is the idea that Jack DeGioia's number one athletics fundraising priority has raised $20 million in pledges in the course of this current campaign, while all of the other athletics priorities that are prioritized behind the IAC in priority have hauled in $40 million in pledges. Kudos to those programs and their respective donors, but something is awry here. The designs are just that...designs. They need actual architectural/structural/engineering drawings now. These are the detailed guts of the building. How the building looks on the outside was what was under review by the neighborhood etc. They would not make entirely different architectural plans for each design and subsequent changes that they would be submitting for review. That being said I too am pretty concerned that the silent fundraising period has seemingly amassed so little. We have almost a billion dollars raised in the capital campaign as a whole. Granted I know this has been over a much longer period, but it's crazy to see that athletics has such a hard time fundraising. Selfishly I don't really get why they can't use some of that money there towards facilities (yes yes people have explained this before blah blah, but I don't accept it ;D). Hopefully this "announcement" and benchmark to start the plans moves some of the skeptical donors off the fence.... Man....if only I was a billionaire....perhaps I should stop posting on this board so much and start working on that... In the meantime, anyone else want to start digging with me? Sorry tennis team....i've got to jackhammer this court out real quick

This is one game where I think we good really use Whit's length. This. He would be perfect either guarding Sutherland or MCW. He will be missed. This would be a good time to announce he's magically eligible again coach!

Games like this will be missed in the new conference. Could be the largest crowd in Carrier Dome history this weekend. This. Is. Big. Time. Cuse has already announced this will be their largest crowd as they have sold 35,012 tickets already. my question is are they selling anymore or did they announce the attendance because they are done selling tickets? Just read somewhere on twitter they're still 150+ tickets still available
