Well, moving to this thread is fine, better than locking, Now those who still wish to rehash ancient history and beat a dead horse can do so in this obscure thread.

This does not belong in our recruiting thread. It should be locked.
Why are we still discussing why Waters is not here? Oy!

We can agree that this guy owns the URL and can post whatever he wishes. Others have the right to opine on the substance and timing of the post, and the potential motives of an article. It seems odd that at the start of a new era, the main fan web site would lead post a headline on the decline of the program.

Oh please. Many people were saying it before he had made the comment. Additionally the comment was clearly made in jest and as a way to show how much work he had been doing. It was the taken out of context as if it should be a red flag. Exactly...I always thought the comment by Coach Ewing was as a joke as he did way more flying around the country all his years in the Association as a player and coach. He probably was on more flights last season with the Hornets then he will be in his first couple years as Georgetown's Head Coach. I was shocked it was taken so seriously by so many posters on here but I've learned that taking comments literally and overreacting to everything seems to be the Hoyatalk way... The next challenge for PE is to install his system on offense and defense and to instill toughness and intensity over a full 40 minutes. Based upon his work ethic and a sound adjustment to college basketball so far, I am reasonable confident that he will succeed. It will take a few years to see if he succeeds, so patience is critical.

PE was the person who brought up that he didn't like the amount of flying he had to do, this wasn't a slight pushed by any hater.. Oh please. Many people were saying it before he had made the comment. Additionally the comment was clearly made in jest and as a way to show how much work he had been doing. It was the taken out of context as if it should be a red flag. Agreed. Patrick is doing a good job and rebutting the naysayers both in the media (WP fake news style hit piece) and on this board.

Patrick's results over the past few months has been outstanding. He has landed two very good 2018's from the South, and two local guys in Pickett and McClung. The staff that he assembled has also been productive. I also like the fact that these are guys that should be 3 to 4 year contributors, an approach that has worked well for Nova the past several years.
Hopefully, this puts the lie to the naysayers that claimed that Pat was too old to recruit, didn't like folding his frame into plane seats, ignored the DC market, etc., etc.

Excellent news, another very good pickup. Hopefully, we can get Fleming, and then focus on a top guard, perhaps in the late signing period.

I have to tell you, following the decisions of a bunch of 17 year olds is getting a bit crazy. First Phillips and now this guy. smh indeed.
I were PE I would get an ulcer.

We could possibly have a log jam at the forward spot. We already have Carter signed. Then Pickett will be playing major mins his sophomore yr. Walker, Derrickson, Johnson with the possibility of landing LeBlanc, and Fleming... Govan, Derrickson and Kaleb will be seniors during Lebanc's freshman year, and PT will open after that. I think that a major part of a top program's success is to allow freshman to become acclimated in in their first year and then step up as sophomores. Villanova has been doing this recently with players like Brunson, Booth etc. learning the ropes under experienced players and not putting them in a position to play major minutes in their first year. Unless a guy is a one and done type, it is good to allow guys to become oriented to college life, practice, travel etc.

With the depth we should have up front next year hé can get some minutes as a rebounder and defensive stopper and hopefully be coached up to be a capable shooter. Yes ideally he should have better range but we have been so deficient recently that we are not going to pull fully rounded top talent right away.

I sincerely doubt that JT3 was involved in this stuff, or that Pat is in the 5 months he is here. However, if it came to pass that GU engaged in criminal conduct, then so be it.

I must say that with all of the sad news with the many hurricane victims, and the chaotic news cycle in general, I am happy to have a news story that I follow with pure glee every day!
While we always felt that Ricky P was a slime ball, Sean Miller is almost up there with him. At least Pitino won!
We are up to 7 programs now in the mix, and more sure to come once the FBI and US Atty. break open the Nike Pandora's box, and possibly UA...

This confirms what many of us have suspected for decades. I look at a lot of our past recruiting battles in a different light, and wonder if a lot of the top guys that listed us did so just to include a school perceived as clean and thus make it look like the final choice was based upon careful consideration and not a payoff. While we can never prove it, one wonders about guys that wound up at many of the power conferences.
Did we ever stand a chance with them, or did they visit to get free trip to DC? I know this sounds a bit paranoid but thIs appears so widespread that one wonders.
This all assumes, of course, that a report of an FBI subpoena served on the Hillltop does not come out tomorrow!

Agreed I don't like it. And the transfer of funds could have been misrepresented, but it seems strange to let them off the hook for clearly doing something to try and maximize the potential return for their child being a good athlete. It seems strange to me that trying to maximize the potential return for extraordinary talent would be considered wrong. It is wrong because it harms the honest families, kids and coaches. The solution is to abolish the NBA age restriction (one and done phenomenon). The return on extraordinary talent is to play and earn as a pro. The top athlete deserves this and this corrupt rule is in place to lavish $$ on the NCAA, and networks, and to provide a free minor league to the NBA. Sad!

Much speculation about the identity of "University-8." For what it's worth, the two most noteworthy Adidas schools who have not been cited (yet) are Indiana and Kansas. Something on which to keep an eye. Then again, there are probably more than just one more college basketball program that will be implicated. And who's to say that there won't be a spillover effect into college football? I'm convinced that NCAA is/was fully aware of these activities and were complicit. I would not be surprised if somehow someway they eventually get dragged into this fiasco. This could be the beginning of their downfall as well. While the NCAA may not be actively complicit, I think this raises the issue of letting these guys go pro out of HS. The current rule has debased CBB and has created a two-tier system on the top blue bloods and everyone else. This started with Calipari and Worldwide Wes, and continued with the UNC academic fraud. It is frankly unfair to deny a CBB athlete the right to become a pro right away, like tennis, golf and baseball. Lets face it, the top athletes by and large just hang out in college for a year, or even less. Not to say they are "dumb", just that they can always get a degree down the line if it important to them. I think that getting rid of the one and done phenomenon will decrease these shenanigans. Yes, the true lowlifes will find another way to cheat, but right now, the money involved with one and dones is just too tempting.

Just hope this doesn't eventually involve Georgetown. We are not an Adidas school. And, maybe this is why Patrick may be carful about his dealings with the local AAU crowd, if the media reports are accurate on this issue.

Whoa, was Keatts one of the guys some folks wanted during the search? As separately noted, NC State is an Adidas school. And yes, Keatts was an oft-cited coaching prospect. In fairness to Keatts, he left Louisville in March 2014. I believe that the investigation started 2 years ago. Lets see what else comes on this before we make judgments. I am sure there will be plenty of fallout that is backed by hard evidence, but lets not jump the gun. I like many love to see those who ar corrupt go down, but lets wait for proof.

As I interpret the video on ESPN's front page, Bilas is saying that the schools may the ones that have been defrauded. No, I'm not kidding. You're right. He said that the false certifications of compliance with NCAA rules signed by college athletes, which are relied upon by schools as consideration for athletic scholarships, caused the universities to be defrauded. Looks like he's trying to set up a defense for Louisville, which could be facing the NCAA death penalty for basketball if the allegations as to Bowen's recruitment prove true. You gotta be kidding me! Two COACHES are involved in the bribe but the kid mislead the school?

Like Boeheim, Pitino was always dirty, you just couldn't catch him.
And this is no doubt the tip of the iceberg.
Wonder how Bilas will try to spin this, just like he tried to exonerate 'Cuse and UNC!
