Roy said "we're going to miss Jeff". Sounds pretty final to me. Yup, I interpreted it the same way. From the way in which Roy said it, sounds like Green is gone.

i bet greens decision had much to do with the fact that his offensive production next year would decline given that we will have 2 legit 3 point threats next year in wallace and wright plus a top mid-range shooter in freeman. and the ability of wright to penetrate and dish to roy will further detract from greens production. all things considered, i think green made a good choice despite the fact that this years draft is the deepest in history.
bottom line i dont think he would have been drafted any higher next year, so economically, why wait.

I doubt that. That would suggest that he is just thinking of himself. If that were the logic then he would be inclinded to stay if the team was going to be worse? I don't think so. I think he just feels it's time to move on. Good luck to him.

Congrats to Jeff - you accomplished everything in your time at Georgetown except win a championship - that's amazing thinking of where we were 4 years ago. Thank you for all that you've done for us. Now ahem ... we're thinking of building a practice facility ...

Jeff, we sure will miss you but for what it's worth, it was truly a pleasure being able to watch you play ball on the Hilltop for three years, and I'd like to thank you for everything you gave to the program. Good luck in the draft and with your future pro team--and get on the All-Star team to keep the streak alive! I'll be cheering for you all the way.
Roy, we're sure glad you're coming back for your fourth year! I already can't wait to see the fear in opposing teams' eyes when they get a load of what you're bringing. 2007-2008 is going to be another special year of Hoya Hoops with you around.
This is how I expected things to play out, even after the 70/30-50/50 quotes. Hoyatalk, we can exhale and start speculating about next season. I'm pretty excited to get back to Section 121!

I'm very happy for Jeff and estatic that Roy is coming back. He's still a young senior so he's fine in terms of developing and getting to pros.
They both made the right call. ROy needs to play and learn to dominate before he gets to the pros. Jeff can step in now and start and help lead a team to the playoffs. Both made the right call.
The other positive is that this whole situation will play very well in recruiting. The process of learning with David Falk and then Jeff leaving will help recruits feel like the process is well taken care of.
Plus, Jeff going in the lottery will debunk the negative recruiting that our style doesn't produce pros and that you don't score enough to be a lottery pick.
In some ways it is great for the program in the long run for Jeff to lead the way in the pros and show that our style works at any level and talent comes out no matter how many points you score.
Go Hoyas!

Maybe I'm a glass all full kinda guy, but I'm still holding out hope that Jeff decides to come back for a title run. While it's not NBA money, I'm willing to buy him dinner at whatever restaurant he wants after graduation in May 2008.

Thanks to both guys--appreciate Roy coming back to school and all that Jeff did for the Hoyas.
It's an individuals decision and for whatever reason they make it--it's their life--so good luck and kick butt!
Where you get drafted is a start--it's what you do when you make the NBA that matters and there are a lot of guys who I think Green is better then that could get selected ahead of him--so I'm confident that Jeff's play on the court will make up the money he could've gained by staying another year.
I'd also like to ask--is there anyway we could go back in time and replace the real Brooks Barringer with the clown who posts on this board? Just not fitting of taking a name of a quality person with this guy--he's truly a waste.

While it's not NBA money, I'm willing to buy him dinner at whatever restaurant he wants after graduation in May 2008. Someone asked Jeff what could make him decide to come back at this point -- why it isn't set in stone. JTIII answered and said that they are going to begin hiring an agent now and that the reason its not set in stone is because the formal process of hiring an agent is not complete -- not because he is still trying to make a final decision.

In my mind, I have to think that Jeff Green has a team that has already told him they are going to select him with a certain high pick in the draft. I have never understood, nor will I until this assumption comes through that Jeff could not do better in next years draft than this years? I mean honestly, can someone please tell me who the 10 players are that will go higher than Jeff next year? I do not see green going in the top ten in this years draft, just in terms of need and what is out there. Plus why would you announce you are staying in this early unless you have a garaunteed slot already? Either you enter at the beginning or you wait till the end till after the draft camps and make a decision. What if Jeff has a bad draft camp? What if things change between now and the draft in terms of trades and stuff? I just dont get it and I really dont get people who say that Jeff cant go any higher next year. Overall, I think this is a cup half full day, we got back a big piece of the team and the best center in the country next year. Still, I would be interested to know if it comes out down the line, why Jeffs mind changed between his 70-30 statement and the announcement today. I realize money and taking care of ones family might be the biggest draw and that could explain it all together, in my guy though, I cant say I think this is the right decision for green. Not just as a hoya fan, but also looking at how deep this draft is. Too many good players to be assured you get drafted early.

QUESTION FOR ANY OF THOSE WHO SNUCK INTO THE PRESS CONFERENCE:
Did any reporters ask JT III about his contract?

they just quoted Green as saying his decision "isnt set in stone" on 980. If this is true, maybe threre is still a little bit of hope, very unlikely, but still

I snuck into the press conference but we had to stand in the hall near the bathroom with the door crakced open so it was often hard to hear. However, as far as I know there was no mention of a contract. This was about the two players as it should have been. Jeff did say it wasn't set in stone, but JTIII answered when Jeff was asked what would change his mind and he did not make it seem like Jeff would be coming back.
