So tonight we get to see both Freeman and Wright in action... this is undoubtedly the best recruiting class we've had in over a decade...very exciting!!! That said, with both these guys joining the existing backcourt of Wallace, Sapp, Rivers, and Crawford... WHICH TWO GUARDS DO YOU START?
Obviously, Rivers and Crawford serve a function as role players... but you're still left with four guards that could be starters in almost any program in the country. In my mind, you stick with Wallace and Sapp... and bring the freshman off the bench, or even introduce a third or fourth guard to the lineup if you want to emulate the NOVA approach in '06.
Without hesitation, Wallace starts. The question really is ... does Sapp? YES. Throughout the season he showed that he was a great ball-handler (often better than Jwall against the Press), was our best passer in the guard spot (leading the Big East Tourney in assists), and could create and hit the big shot (just ask the Tar Heals as he terrorized them in the last 5 minutes of regulation).
In the end, its a great problem to have... heck with the depth we have in the backcourt, we may even be able to implement a full court press in conjunction with the Princeton offense.
Any thoughts?

If Jeff and Roy leave, I got Summers, Wallace, Sapp, Freeman, and Wright starting. We'll score 175 ppg.

If I had to compare them to minivans I would do it like this:
Austin - Chrysler Town and Country - lots of flash, lots of power, lots of options, definitely the class of the group over the long term. Buy don't lease.
Chirs - Dodge Caravan - Almost as good as the Town and Country, just a little less power and a few less options.
Wallace - Ford Freestar - Not as nimble, a little boxy, but very safe, and its gotten your kids to soccer practice every week with no problems so you can't knock it.
Sapp - Honda Oddessy - Inconsistent performance. Sometimes it can really bring it and carry the whole family - other times it breaks down on the way to soccer practice.
Crawford - Chevy Uplander - Don't see many of them on the road, so its hard to judge. Hear good things from the dealership though.
Rivers - Kia Sedona - Hoping that there can be some improvements in the next model year.

Lic - JTIII is not a minivan - he is the synthesis of two fine lineages of success. This is clearly the car that best describes the man: www.mbusa.com/models/main.do?modelCode=SLRON EDIT: However, I would like to emphasize to the University that he's worth more than $450,000 though.

even with all the influx of talent....i dont want to discount jeremiah....he did wonders for us on defense this year, and could develop into a very, very good role player for us during the next 3 years

That said, we need him to be much more consistent when shooting an open jumper (like he did going into the half against Cinci), and he needs to learn how to finish when going to the hole. He now shoots lay ups like John Jacques!!!!

Rivers was actually very good at finishing his layups this year. Not sure what you are talking about there. If he develops an outside shot, he'll be a pro.

Come on SF, 6'4 guards with a natural handle? Dime a dozen. Just like guys who shoot almost 50% from three like Wallace. These guys are great additions and will be for years to come but man, the guys actually on the team just went to the Final Four. Unreal anyone still discounts them.

Gottlieb is going to come on the air tomorrow and say that Wright and Freeman should start, because Wallace and Sapp aren't division 1 players.
We stick with the existing starters. I don't think there's even a question.
I unfortunately was not aware of the game, never having made it on line yesterday, and happened to stumble across it near the end. I was thrilled to hear the comments on Wright. Good stuff, indeed.

I love what the Hoyas accomplished this year (I think we did exceed expectations.. but just by a little), and getting to the Final Four was huge to the program. That said, even though Rivers is the Kia Sedona of the group... JT3 found ways of inserting him into the lineup effectively. He is a great defender.... no doubt about it!! The problem however is that he is still very much of a liability on offense. The flow of the game on offense is very different when he is in. If I were a betting man, I would say Rivers becomes a good (not great) four year player but does not get to the next level. In fact, I think he gets about the same amount of playing time next year as he did last.

I loved the intensity and toughness Jeremiah showed on the boards at both ends, especially as the season wore on. I think his two threes within a minute at Cinncinnati was a major part of us winning that game. He's gonna get better and better, and there's ALWAYS room for a winner like him on your favorite college team. He definitely MORE than held his own this year---kudos to him. Good luck to he and all the guys in achieving great things in the classroom as well.
