You may want to specify in thread title. Many people might think Brandan Wright of UNC. I hope noone is absent-minded enough to think Chris.

This is great news. Stay in school Jeff. Too many people like wright in the draft. You can go much higher next year Jeff.

Declaring for the draft does not necessarily mean someone is NBA-bound. Kids have the opportunity to gauge NBA interest by going through the process, but can renege and return to school, just like Brandon Bowman did before his senior year.
I would imagine that Jeff Green, if not Roy Hibbert, too, will declare this year to at least determine NBA interest. Doesn't mean they're automatically going pro. So if they do declare, don't go off the deep end....

They probably should and to go to the camps to get some good advice But you know everyone on here will be going off the deep end the second the news comes out

Julian Wright is someone who would be very comparable to Jeff, and probably very close to him in draft position. For those of us who would like to see Jeff return for one more year, this is a good sign.

Everything I heard said that he was going to go top 10. Chad Ford has him rated as the 7th best prospect. Yet the ESPN, draftexpress, and nbadraftnet mock drafts don't have him even being picked. What's the deal, just an assumption that he wouldn't declare?

I think they were assuming he wouldn't declare. Brandon Rush could cash in too.

What's the deal, just an assumption that he wouldn't declare? I think he's like Roy -- always stated his intent to come back for another year and compete for a championship. Of course, we all know that top-10 status changes a lot of things.

He's on the Ben Gordon/Emeka Okafor 3 year plan to graduate so it was assumed he wasnt coming out
And I hardly think this will stop Jeff from coming out...he's still a lottery pick regardless.

everyone assumed he wasn't coming out on the cbs draft watch that hasn't been updated since the 6th it lists him in the group of expected to stay.

press conference at 4 pm CST in Lawrence for what is expected to be the official announcement. It is believed that Wright is going to play the 3 at the NBA level even though he played the 4 the last two years at KU. mock drafts during the year had him going as high as four. interesting to see if players of this level continue to declare. if so it might be harder for jeff to leave.

Why do you people believe this will have any impact on if Jeff declares or not?

Why do you people believe this will have any impact on if Jeff declares or not? The more players in, the more competition for those high spots, the better the chance of falling, which in some ways means the better the decision to return (or at least the more likely decision). That's all. Now there's just as good a chance Wright is below Jeff so this doesn't matter at all.

/\ Because there is no gurantee you will go 3 next year...you all make it seem so easy. Just like your stock can go up it can also go DOWN. You strike while the iron is hot in these situations.
I mean according to your logic...every lottery prospect not named Greg Oden and Kevin Durant might as well come back so they can get a crack at one of those top 3 spots.

Two points here: 1. 7th vs. 3rd for Jeff is, let's face it, not different enough for an NBA-ready forward prospect to care about. I agree there. The only reason for Jeff to return at that point would be to win a title. 2. But I'll maintain my position that just about no matter where Roy is he really should come back. NBAdraft has him compared to Joel Przybilla, who was in fact the 9th pick in his draft. One problem: Joel Przybilla is TERRIBLE. Yes, he's tall. Yes, he's still in the league. Yes he was drafted top 10. No, he's not a good professional basketball player. Roy has the potential to be so much better. Get in better condition, refine your game, add a jumper and then hit the league. It isn't an easy decision but Roy will be glad some day that he decided not to leave for the tantalizing prospect of being Joel Przybilla.
