Personally, I'm a fan of Roy "The 7'2 Experience" Hibbert, but "the Dagger" is a pretty bad ass nickname. Too bad Thornton didn't stick around and earn it.

It's hard to generate a nickname out of thin air. We have to wait until one of the boys does something noteworthy.
Like when Octavius comes off the bench and hits 30 with 3:27 left to go in the game against 'Cuse, then I'll think of something.

well, young jeezy has been a consistent contributor on this team and continues to show improvement during the year. his turnovers have gone way down and for the most part he has stayed out of foul trouble recently. in addition, his passing improves with every game. if j-wal continues to play like he did the other night then young jeezy has a legit oppurtunity to b this teams mvp.
also, young jeezy is a legal nickname to use because the rapper formerly known as young jeezy is now referred to as just "jeezy". maybe when young jeezy goes to the nba he can drop the young and once he is enshrined in the professional bball hall of fame he can morph into old jeezy

As a close personal friend of DaJuan in high school, I can personally attest to the fact that he loves the nickname Young Jeezy. It's from the streets, where he is such a pimp (by the way).

i love the fact that this thread has been dominated almost entirely by relative newcomers...that is amazing. we even have a close personal friend of DS.
can someone explain the significance of "jeezy" to me? is it supposed to mean anything or is it short for a real name?

DQ Egerson and Thorton for leaving the program. Hibbs is "The Experience" -- any other nickname for him comes next. I don't even understand Young Jeezy and I have a ton of street cred because I watch The Wire and everything...(ahem). Green is simply too quiet, calm and subdued to carry any nickname that doesn't go toward Silent Assassin, etc.
Only Macklin and Crawford have nicknames they can support. Macklin is the Big Ticket; Crawford actually plays basketball like Bam Bam. I went with Crawford.

I went with Crawford as well. Ticket is a great nickname -- too bad he isn't the first. It may become like "The Truth" or like "Death to Flying Things" was in baseball, back before every nickname was a derivation of A-Rod.

originality? Terry "bam bam" Gordy.. wrestler from the fab freebirds Pardon my forward reply to your queries. It is not a nickname of another basketball player (Big Ticket). It is not the nickname of a rapper (Young Jeezy). It is not "T Craw." I feel that taking inspiration from a professional wrestler or a prehistoric cartoon toddler for your nom de plum is novel. I will grant that one might find that "original" could imply that he was the first and only person in the history of civilization to ever carry that informal appellation. ***Pops collar. Sits back while the Country Club staff brings another snifter of brandy. Opens checkbook Summons banker with brass handbell. Wires $150 million to Mr. Muir to just "take care of that little McDonough" renovation project.***

even though this nickname sounds like Chris Berman made it, I like "DaJuan Summmers in Nantucket" It's not that gangsta though.
