Good crowd, pretty noisy on TV.

No broadcast here, but it seems like a 3-pt shoot-out so far. OK by me...work on that outside shooting, fellas.

27-18 at half. Mr. Macklin apparently needs to work on his free throw technique.

Man, that WAS a lotta 3-point attempts! GU (12) + WSS (13) = 25. If they keep this up...well, here: take a look at the NCAA record below --
Three-Point Field Goals Attempted (2 Teams)
59, Loyola Marymount (41) vs. UNLV (18), RF, 3-25-1990 52, Tulsa (36) vs. Arkansas (16), RSF, 3-25-1994 52, Penn St. (33) vs. Temple (19), RSF, 3-23-2001 51, Louisville (27) vs. Arizona (24), RSF, 3-24-1994 51, Kentucky (36) vs. North Carolina (15), RF, 3-23-1995

Yeah. For a long time. 15 years, in fact. I'm a Boston boy, though. Red Sox fan, to be exact.
Back to the game...and the three pointers are still being heaved up there.....

Does anyone know when was the last time a game at McDonough was televised? I remember a couple when I was very little, but not one in a very long time. The coverage isn't a thing of beauty, but I appreciate being able to see it. 22-0 runs are making me think of other things.

They televised the McD NIT game against Cal State Fullerton a couple years ago. The ESPN gamecast has Josh Thornton in the game with a second half foul.

Oh, I was at that one so I forgot it was televised. I stand corrected. Thanks.

Was able to watch the game: great shooting performance by Crawford, he was absolutely on fire! He also was his typical self on the boards and the defensive game. The best I've seen him play. Good game from Sapp as well - some nifty passes. Thought the backcourt overall played well. Our intensity really picked up after they cut it to 6 -- Roy was posting hard and generally making his presence felt. Also, the Summers alley-opp in the 1st was awesome.

Defense was obviously pretty stifling, and Tyler was great. It's what you're supposed to do to Winston Salem St., but a 47-9 run against anybody is pretty fun to watch. Chalk up the first 23 minutes of the game to exam rust or something.

Its a good thing that we remembered that we were playing against Winston-Salem State, because that was damn embarrassing for a while.

I though C.E. Gaines was pretty good for Winston-Salem. 32 points and was all over the court.

Why was Jeff sitting on the bench for so long tonight, even when they were still only up by 4

Why was Jeff sitting on the bench for so long tonight, even when they were still only up by 4 Actually Jeff and Jon were sent to the bench after the lead was cut to six early in the second half. I would have given Jeff more time, personally, but then again Roy has gotten that type of sitting time very often so I guess it was finally Jeff's turn. I am still concerned that Jeff doesn't attack the basket and isn't nearly as aggressive as he should be. Summers has far more aggession and he's just a frosh. If Jeff played like the star he is capable of being, if he had that swagger, determination and attitude that, say, an Alando Tucker of Wisconsin has, Gtown would be undefeated. Jeff should not be bordering around 10 points per contest as the team heads into BE play and, no, I don't care if that's similiar to his stats at this time last season. Its time for him to step up and be The Man. Hibbs could be a tad more aggressive to but its frustrating that at the times he was able to clear space for himself with good positioning under the basket (or when he beat his defender to the spot) his teammates did not notice or could not give him the ball or flat out refused to give him the ball. Is Jeff the only guy who can throw an entry pass into Roy? There were times in the game when the Hoyas kept putting up outside brick after outside brick that I asked myself why can't they settle dow and let Jeff or Roy try to post their defenders instead. Regardless of the win I'm still asking that question. The only three-point shooting I cared about was from Tyler. I wanted to see him hit his shots and look like a guy we can depend on during the real season. The last few games, especially tonight, indicate he may well be on his way on being that type of contributor to the team. Its just good to see him on the floor after his three minutes of playing time last season and his illness early on this season. Gotta be happy for him. Is this the biggst margin of victory for a III-led Hoya team? Even if it wasn't, a 40 + win is always welcomed. Just imagine how big the margin could have truly been if the team had performed to their capabillities in the first 23 minutes of a game (basically went scoreless for the first four minutes as well as the last four minutes of the first half). Much of the first half drought was the result of the players being too eager to launch their next missed three point shot. For God's sakes can this team learn to work the ball inside and use interior passing for good close looks rather than take three after three after three? Even if this team was a great three-point shooting bunch such a strategy would be silly considering the big men and slashers on this team. That blistering shooting against JMU was fool's gold IMO. Am I'm being too harsh after a relatively easy win? Maybe, maybe not. Its just that there are still too many problems that need fixing (ones that ARE fixable) before conference play begins.

Kind of think you are. If we wouldn't have pressed ORU so well or won by 40+, I would be upset. But this was an exam week off, followed by a blowout second half versus a cupcake. That's pretty much as expected. This was a throw away game. Towson will be another game to work on things but this was a scrimmage.
