Thank you Jon Wallace for caring. Sure hope you are on a scholly. Everyone one else regressed. It seems Green and Hibbert spent the summer pre-ordering out their 2008 Escalades. Is there any reason why Hibbert isn't in shape enough to play effectively in these games?

I agree with the earlier point on Roy -- I would have thought the conditioning would be further along. He should be dominating 6'9, 215 guys down low.

what happened to all those insider reports of Hibbert beasting at the Nike camps and just taking it to Glen Davis, etc. - What the hell happened to the fire? Did Green ever have the fire? I don't know - he looks like a poor man's chris wilcox to me right now.
Summers needs to use his goshdarned brain both in the offensive sets and on defense - he gets absolutely worked on perimeter defense and falls for every ball fake that he has ever met.
I like JR Rivers on defense - he is tenacious - just wish he wasnt such a non-factor on D.
Now not only do we have NO reliable outside shooting...our interior offense is TOTALLY non-existent. If the Big East wasn't so bad this year, I would say that we would be bottom half. Right now I saw that Pitt, Marquette, Syracuse, UCONN are for sure better than us and we better look over our shoulder for Louisville and Nova (that is without me even seeing a possession from those last two teams).

So far he's our most improved player from last year. Wallace started and played big minutes last year. Egerson was seldom used.

Point being that Roy and Jeff are just not buttering the biscuit right now. Period.

egerson is aggressive at least. our 'best player' just stands on the perimeter passing the ball around like it's a practice drill.

the point that no one is making is i think we miss tyler a lot and what he brings to this team. 3pt shooting and hustle... the 2 things we are lacking the most right now. he played in the last few minutes vs. Oregon so hopefully he will be better for the Duke game. his tenacity would have helped out a lot last night and vs. ODU.

Disagree on Egerson. Athletic, strong, and aggressive, yes. (and thank goodness somebody who's getting real minutes is aggressive).
But Egerson right now is just a half step ahead of Ewing ... aggressive, but not a good decision maker. From what I've seen of Egerson, he's a shoot first-ask questions later player which would be okay if he was a good shooter.
We're not as bad as we looked last night and we're not as good as we'll look when we beat [fill in the blank ... Duke, Pitt, Marquette, etc]. This is a team with the talent to beat anyone (yes anyone) in the nation and the lack of focus to lose to anyone (yes anyone). Improve on the focus, work on sound decision making, and more junior leadership (Wallace seems fine) can keep this team in the national discussion for the rest of the season.
I love that Sapp, Egerson, Summers, Macklin are getting minutes. Will make this a better team in February. But last night was the blind leading the blind.
Like I said, though. Not as bad as we looked last night.
Go Hoyas, come back Jeff, beat Duke.
Oh ... and if someone could pull a Forrest Whitaker [see Fast Times at Ridgemont High] on Roy, that would be nice. Anger is your friend, Roy.

From what I've seen of Egerson, he's a shoot first-ask questions later player which would be okay if he was a good shooter. eh... he's averaging 8.7 ppg on 50% shooting from the floor. Only 3-12 from three, but fortunately, he's not taking too many (2 a game). To me, the best thing about him is that he finishes most of the times he's fouled, putting him in and-1 situations, and he's converting 74% at the line. I don't think he's awesome by any stretch, but he was one of my least favorite people to see on the court last year because it looked like he was coasting most of the time he was out there. I thought that he was one of the prime culprits that III was talking about at last year's banquet when he said the freshmen needed to step up their effort. This year, I'm seeing a lot more effort, and thus far decent results.

Agreed. it seems that our "role players" like Egerson, Sapp, Rivers and even Wallace to an extent are holding up their end of the bargain. what has killed us has been our "stars" acting like the role players that they were or at least thought they were on last years team. Last night, Roys post moves were poor. it seems like hes trying to fake out his guy too much with new moves or something. just take one dribble, spin the other way and throw up a hook shot when youre backing down your guy. if you are facing the basket DUNK IT. jeff had numerous opportunities to post up smaller guys too last night and didnt do it.

I'm not so sure about this. Sure, he may be a "spiritual leader" of sorts, but he played a lot of the Hartford game and we didn't exactly blow them out. Also, he was anything but a sharpshooter at the 3 point line. Unless he plays a lot better than he did that game, he may be edged out of his starting position by Summers, who, despite mistakes at the Oregon game, has looked pretty good. Edit: Hartford, not Vandy, my bad
