Egerson and Wallace took about half our FG attempts, which is atrocious given our size advantage. Other than that, Oregon shot the ball terribly, otherwise we would have been run out of the gym. I hope that was at least in part because of our good defense.

So long top 25. This team has no drive, no heart.
I repeat. The class of the Metro Area will prove to be Maryland.
All the hype......and to think we ate it up.

Well, that was a waste of $10 and 2.5 hours' sleep. Where was the energy in the second half? Where was the cutting? Where were the set plays, if the offense wasn't working as planned? Where was Roy? Where was Jeff? What happened to Summers? Arghjfklasf

good news - its still early in the season.
bad news - we won't fare well against quick teams like Oregon. Oregon was faster and quicker to the ball, off the dribble, grabbing rebounds, etc. The difference was GLARING.
We don't match up well with a team like Oregon.
Duke will be a better matchup. They aren't THAT quick.
Oregon controlled this game.
They looked like the better team.
Why?
Because they are a better team than G-town right now.
I know fans don't want to admit it, but we aren't as good as a lot of people hyped us to be. Never was. I found it comical that people were talking NCAA championships and the like.
This team has a long ways to go.
Now, having said that, we got ways in which we can improve. Its early in the season, and games like this are a great teaching and preparatory tool when Big East play comes around.
I'm optimistic and still think we will have a great season.
But its going to take a lot of hard work.

I look forward to hearing from those at the game or watching on the Internet, but I can't understand how we end up with only 9 points from Hibbert and Green on a combined 11 shots. Shouldn't they be getting about that many shots each? What did Oregon do to so effectively take them out of the game?
I think Way makes a good point about quickness. This team does not have it and will struggle against teams that do.

I really thought our biggest problem was our interior play. Roy is 2 of 7 and he's not taking any shots outside of 5 feet. That's not acceptable. Green didn't show up at all. When they ran clear out plays for him to drive to the basket a la Pitt and Duke he took two steps and then pulled up to dump a pass to the perimeter.
Both of them seemed to have trouble against the quick armwaving defense. The problem is, when you hesitate as much as Jeff and Roy tonight, that defense becomes effective. When they took it to the hoop with authority, they either scored or were fouled. Too bad those times were the exception rather than the rule tonight.
P.S. big ups to Jon Wallace for carrying the scoring load in the first half to keep us in this. I haven't seen his TOs yet, but I thought he at least played a heck of a game.

J Wally led em in scoring, but had a bunch of TO's. Sapp was in foul trouble, JG and Roy did nothing. Egerson, Macklin looked pretty good. Ewing a non factor. Rivers, well... Surprised really that we didn't take advantage of our size!!

2 problems I saw (but I'm no expert):
1. 1-9(?) on 3s. Oregon was able to keep their small (fast) team out there because they could sag as soon as Roy got the ball in the paint. Admittedly, Oregon was able to recover quickly on passes, but G'town clearly didn't want to shoot 3s in the 2nd half.
2. Other than Wallace, players didn't finish back cuts, but stopped running when they saw they were covered. This lead to the lane being clogged, lousy spacing. Hell, in the 2nd half, there weren't many cuts being run.

I am depressed. We were not the better team on the court. We got out-played in every aspect of the game (other than blocks I suppose - but that was kind of expected). I think I'll take some time off before Duke to work on lowering my expectations.

We were lucky not to lose by 20 tonight.
With all the open shots Oregon got, they could have run us off the floor in the first half if they made a decent number.
Oregon played really well.

EXCERPT FROM AP RECAP: The Hoyas (4-2) were a preseason Top 10 team, but they've now lost twice at home to unranked opponents, and their next game is at No. 11 Duke.
This hurts right now

I can deal with losing to a team because they outplayed us, executed better in key situations, just had a ridiculous night shooting the ball, etc.
I can't deal with losing because of lack of effort. I don't know if they are tired (there's no reason they should be), if they're not motivated, if they're sick, whatever. There's just absolutely no excuse for playing with the lack of intensity and showing no emotion or desire whatsoever for 40 minutes tonight. This is probably the first time I've ever said this in the JT3 era: the team should be embarassed by the way they played tonight.

Did not get a chance to see or hear the game.
Sounds like an effort loss - poor rebounding and defense, not finishing around the goal on offense - those are HUSTLE items.
A midnight practice in McD tonight sounds about right to me. This team needs Crawford's intensity badly.

The only good news - Crawford came in for the last 11 seconds. The bad news - he came in because Green fouled out.
