Is Hoya Blue helping Lecture Fund promote this? I think it'd be a good idea, since this could help increase buzz for the bball team

they're also having a speaker on decriminalizing marijuana. Maybe this is the reefer making me paranoid but i always think that they could just round up anyone who goes to a meeting about that and arrest them for drug charges, let's be honest if you want marijuana legalized it's most likely because you smoke it.

I just found out about this today on the talkboard. If you were on campus you would know a lecture by Pat Forde definitely isn't needed to increase buzz, everyone is already talking about the team. Plus, we're gonna have a lot of other stuff going on to increase buzz a lot more effectively than Pat Forde, but we'll see. It's def cool that lecture fund is bringing some people like this to campus though.

I think it is kind of funny that we're in the spot right now where we're asking whether a Forde lecture is valuable in terms of student support for Hoya basketball. It may be an outgrowth of the fact that 3/4 of today's student body has not witnessed what it is like to have an irrelevant program and to be laughed at when you try to get a group together to go to a game.
I'm still of the mind that any time spent at a basketball-related thing or any attention to it on campus is positive and helpful. HB should table (or tabel) the event and help out to some extent with promotions.
I suggested to some boardies last year that these kinds of lectures be held during the week of Midnight Madness to kind of build some hype and focus attention on the upcoming season. Even more successful would be back to back lectures from Zo and Deke, as their schedules allow.

Forde lecture pre-transcript:
"Louisville this ... Pitino, Denny Crum, 1986, Never Nervous" "Kentucky that ... Pitino, Tubby, Rupp Arena, Ashley Judd, mmm Ashley Judd"

Yeah, I can see that Jersey, but I feel like its more of a lecture fund job in terms promoting it, and I think we can use our time and energy more effectively elsewhere.
However, I generally agree with the idea that any sort of college basketball related event on campus is beneficial in terms of creating excitement.

Bumping this because I just heard someone mention this earlier and realized its tomorrow. I haven't seen a single flyer or anything promoting it which is a shame since it really could be interesting for basketball fans. Barring something unforeseen I am definitely going to check this out and I hope all other students and those near campus will as well.
It's at 7:00 PM in the McShaine Lounge in Southwest Quad.

This is a lecture fund event and they've done a crappy job promoting it, its not our job to promote their events and frankly we dont have the time. However, information about this event will be included in our listserv email which will go out either tonight or tomorrow morning. I encourage as many people as possible to show up and show Mr. Forde we really care about basketball here. Wearing your We Are Georgetown shirt encouraged, haha.

The Pat Forde event has some flyers and things around campus, I'm pretty sure it'll be packed. An event that was poorly promoted was "The State of the Black Athlete" panel Monday night in the Copley Lounge, that included the Washington Wizards' Etan Thomas and Bill Rhoden of the NYT and "Sports Reporters" on ESPN. The Lecture Fund and Black Student Association, who sponsored the event, didn't do a good enough job getting the word out about that one; the event went largely unnoticed amidst the Hamid Karzai visit earlier Monday, and the Forde event Tuesday. Did anyone go? I heard Pops talking about how he was going on his radio show last night, but it was the first I had heard of the event. I am sure Bill Rhoden and Etan Thomas were not shy about being provocative.
