You're kidding right? Not sure if you want a good player to join a conference rival or someone we'd only likely see from time to time in tourney play?
Go BLUE!!!

I'm always for BE teams - makes the conf stronger. I'm esp supportive of the bball teams. Go Nova.
However, most people seem to think he's bound for Michigan. Not much better a situation than Oklahoma if you ask me (Amaker is on the hot seat big time), though at least it's a great academic school.

I'd rather 'Nova not get Scottie and I don't think they will.
Here's the thing: 'Nova's done. They're not done in the way that they won't contend to go to the tournament or they won't be a good team but they're back to where there were before. They had a window of opportunity to win a title and through bad luck (Sumpter's injury, Fraser's multiple injuries) and a bad decision (4-guard lineup) they missed it and got to the Elite Eight. It's admirable but look at this year's roster without Lowry.
Seniors: Mike Nardi (PG), Will Sheridan (PF) Sophomores: Frank Tchuisi (F), Bilal Benn (G), Dwayne Anderson (SG), Dante Cunningham (F) Freshmen: Kraidon Woods (F), Andrew Ott (C), Reggie Redding (G), Casseim Drummond (C), Antonio Pena (F)
That team is fine and dandy but does anyone scare you? Nardi and Sheridan are two very solid seniors. The rest of the roster looks alright, but nothing even resembling a replacement for that ridiculous Ray, Foye, Sumpter, Fraser class that just graduated (Sumpter I know is back but of course we'll see a what level he can play).
So I'm fine with 'Nova dropping back a step over the next few years to make room for the Hoyas, who start 2006-07 with a window of their own. We'll be the darling of media nostalgia for the old school Big East. I got so sick of hearing about Villanova this year, I want them to get sick of us this year.

Not me. Nova's not the enemy. Too many of you are living in the past, angry over a game 20+ years ago. I don't blame you -- even though I came later I hated Kerry Kittles and Jason Lawson.
But there's a very good chance the Big East is going to split. And in four years.
Providence looks like a lost cause for now. I am hopeful about St. John's, Seton Hall and Depaul. Marquette is a solid program. Notre Dame may not side with the non-BCS football teams.
We will rock. But if Nova is simple a tourney team -- like Marquette -- we're a three bid conference with some years getting two. That's dangerously close to the A-10 and old C-USA instead of a major conference.
For now, I root for all the "basketball" schools. Nova has Sumpter next year, which you left off your table, and Corey Fisher coming in the next year. They may also get Corey Stokes. I hope Reynolds realizes that Amaker is incompetent and goes to Nova.
A team of Fisher, Reynolds, Stokes, Pena and Cunningham would contend with us at the top of the current or split BE. And that's a good thing.

Not me. Nova's not the enemy. That's just crazy talk, right there. Nova not the enemy? They stone people in some parts of the world for saying things like that.

both sides have valid arguments but i think that even with reyonlds that nova won't be a threat next year so i'd rather have them in the decent- good range than decent- crappy range. Better for our RPI and better for preventing the split/ surviving after the split.

Hey, I don't want Nova to suck. I just want them to lose to us. I want Nova to have plenty of players like, say Greg Woodard. Absolutely horrible against Georgetown, but used to rip Syracuse a new one from 3 on a regular basis. If Reynolds isn't going to be a difference maker at Nova, then fine. But if he's a player that can help keep them at the top - i.e. above Georgetown - I'd just as soon see him playing in Crisler thank you very much. Villanova can have his non-union Mexican equivalent.

I really don't care where he ends up. Do you know why? Because none of those programs have JTIII as a head coach. Thats why. I could care less about the guy. I can't wait until he signs so hoyatalk can move on. I hope this kid is the 2nd coming of Isiah Thomas or Allen Iverson becaues if he isn't, hoyatalk has wasted loads and loads of time talking about him coming here like he is the Messiah.

To steal from Simmons: "If you found $10 on the street, would you give that up if it meant Villanova would be the third competitive Catholic school in the Big East this year?"
The Catholic schools still are what they are and that split that might occur hasn't yet. So the impact to us this year is nothing because we'll be playing 'Cuse, Pitt, Louisiville and the rest of the BCS bunch. I could not care any less if the other Catholic schools are good or mediocre anymore. It doesn't affect us one way or another over these next couple of years. If a split occurs in the future, we'll cross that bridge then. But right now, I just want a few easier knockdowns for the Hoyas to win the Big East and get a high tournament seed because chances like these don't come around much.

I'd give up ten bucks to see Nova be good.
Long term, we'll be better than them, so I'd rather they are pretty good.

Reynolds has chosen Nova and will be in the Big East--good pickup for the conference and even better than we can focus on '07 prospects now!

Worrying about the split is only going to drive us crazy. Any interest I have in Nova success is a distant second to that of the Hoyas.
