Ever dream of throwing a pie at Jessie Sapp, Roy Hibbert, Jeff Green, or Tyler Crawford? Maybe not. But how fun would it be to watch Hibbert's girlfriend pie him? Or see the sophomores pie the freshmen? This Wednesday in Red Square from 11-4, the AEPi fraternity is running a charity event in which professors, students, and administrators take turns getting pied as donations are collected for Hurricane Katrina Relief and the Winnipeg Center, which helps oppressed Ethiopian Jews immigrate to Israel. Sapp, Hibbert, Green, and Crawford will be among the students getting pied and are scheduled to be in Red Square from 1-1:30pm. Please come out and support both the brave guys on the team and this great cause.

Hmm sounds like a great cause. I don't know if i could ever throw a pie at a member of our team though. teacher sure. Throw oranges at an oposing team player in a heart beat but throwing stuff at my beloved hoyas just rubs me the wrong way.

They're pretend fraternities, based on community service, the SFS, business school, etc.

Delta Phi Epsilon has been around for 86 years and has had a house at the corner of 34th and Prospect since 1940. At one time there were as many as 12 fraternities at Georgetown before GU decided it wasn't socially acceptable to have such groups under its wings, at least not among the Ivies.

What a good bunch of guys we have representing this university. It really is striking in this era when players (and schools) find all kinds of ways to circumvent the rules to get paid.

For the most part, Jesuit schools don't allow fraternities, though I realize Georgetown is "Jesuit" pretty much in name only at this point.

Good lord, guru. Check your last ten posts and get yourself a multivitamin. And yes, they are pretend fraternities. People don't live in the houses, and they are more like clubs than frats.

Check my last ten posts? What are you, Interpol? I was just stirring the waters, which have been pretty still around here lately. Relax, buddy.

Who is getting paid? Reggie Bush's family, for one. I hope my post didn't sound sarcastic, because I do praise our guys for doing their part to help out. By contrast, too many players spend their time working to subvert NCAA rules.

My roommate is in SigEp which is the first social frat on campus. I don't like frats in general, but they do seem to be gaining some traction on campus. I just hope the university doesn't cave in and recognize them. Not having frats is what makes G-town so unique and I love how the social system is not dominated by frats.
And by frats I mean social frats, the pretend ones can stay.

Agree completely SoCal. One of the reasons for my attending G-town was it not having frats. I hope it stays that way. There are plenty of clubs and ways to get involved in almost anything on campus, and there's DC and all of its resources if that's not enough.
