I think that the WVU Sugar bowl win was a big deal for the Big East including Big East hoops. It would have been nice to see Louisville knock off V. Tech as well but they gave it up late.
The auto bid to the BCS is very important from a cash standpoint and until Pitt, Cuse, Cincy, USF, Uconn and some of the other very weak Big East football teams pick it up, it is going to be up to WVU & Louisville to stay strong and keep that auto-bid. Just my thoughts.

Just my thoughts. It was horrible and I hated it. My Dawgs decided to spot them 28 points in the first quarter and then proceed to essentially dominate them the rest of the game (35-10). Truly heartbreaking for those in Athens. It was good for Big East though.....

I wanted to pull for D.J. Shockley, but that game was very important for Big East football...had to pull for the Mountaineers...

Yeah, I was rooting hard for WVU. Huge win for the Big East, let's hope it sparks something. But big congrats to West Virginia.

Remind me again why I should root for big east football, given that 95% of their fan bases think they're just playing out the string for the next five years until they dump the non-DIA schools? I find the feebleness of Big East football a good source of comedy.
Though I can't root for Virginia Tech. Did you see Marcus Vick? Talk about thugish...

Apparently the word "thug" has become loaded, how about "big stupid jerk."
Personally, I think both apply.

Vick is actually a spoiled brat who has major entitlement issues that will likely derail any legitimate chance he has of playing in the NFL. Michael was a better player at Tech and more importantly a much more humble guy. I wish he could teach his idiot brother a lesson, but he tried that last year when little bro was suspended for a full season!
The WVU win was big for the conference. Until the fball schools dump us in 4 years, we need that incoming publicity and money for the Big East. Then to hell with them . . .

any chance that this guy was taking cheap shots at Vick during the game? I'm willing to bet that he, or somebody on his team was...

Are we talking about the same Marcus Vick here?
If thug is loaded, then let's try jerk, criminal, egomaniac, and all around moron. I'm pretty sure Vick got hit - it's called football. Stomping on people after the play in an effort to hurt their best player is called...well, thuggish is the best word, but absent that, let's call it pathetic.
Watching Vtech is like watching the UM teams of yesteryear - tottally out of control on the field.

I watch more football than the average guy...read more about it than I watch...and none of Vick's behavior this season would lead me to believe he's not humble... I think you're just projecting that on Vick...

Didn't Vick take a shot (physical, not verbal) at the WVU coach too, earlier this year? I remember at the time I wasn't convinced it was deliberate, but after seeing him try to stomp a guy it's hard to think that was an accident.
Anyway, I root against BE football. I would've enjoyed seeing BE football go 0-4 in the bowls, and better yet would've been seeing WVU get completely blown out, so as to start the "BE should lose their automatic bid" talk. I think it'd be great for us if they lose their automatic bid. It would force football pretenders like UConn, Syracuse, Cincinatti, etc. to realize that the Big East's only hope for success is BASKETBALL and that the Big East is and will always be a BASKETBALL conference. If Big East football succeeds, they're just gonna ditch the hoops schools whenever they're able. They want to be a football conference, and if BE football is successful, they can be, and they'll have no desire to keep us or the other Catholics around. If they lose their BCS automatic bid though, I think they'd be obligated to put hoops first, meaning that the basketball schools still factor in. If their football conference does in fact grow strong, they'll be much more independent and that means we (along with the other Catholic schools) are gonna need a new home.
Unfortunately, WVU has a really good football team, and they DID deserve to be in that game, as they showed.

Watching Vtech is like watching the UM teams of yesteryear - tottally out of control on the field. That's coming from someone that evidently doesn't watch a lot of sports...and/or needs to whip out a Thesaurus or dictionary... Although I hated Miami of yesteryear, they were never thuggish on the field...unless being brash, arrogant, confrontational, trash-talkers, and...now, let's see, oh yeah, being GOOD is now the definition of Thug... off the field, yes...Miami was very thuggish... it's very interesting who we decide to give another chance in sports and society... Michigan State's QB from either last year or the year before was abusing drugs...and the announcers and media reported how great it was that he had turned his life around... From my community...once a crack-head, always a crack-head... Marcus Vick retaliates out of anger, and he's everything that we assumed he was, and worse... Maybe Vick is a thug...I don't know...and yes...kicking somebody is wrong... But how do YOU know he's a thug if your only evidence is that he kicked somebody on the field?

Is giving another man a cheap shot on a football field (a field on which a game is played) not enough evidence enough for you? I mean come on, you could even argue Vick did this with the intention of truly hurting this guy. It reminds me a lot of the cheap shot a UVA lineman put on BC's best defensive player, Mathias Kiwanuka. media.putfile.com/CheapShotUVa_kiwi25That guy is a thug too. Call me brash for judging based on this one action for each of them, but it is enough evidence for me.

Do I really have to link to Vick's rap sheet? You know full well the trouble he's been in. He's constantly talking on the field, throwing the ball at people, and generally making an ass of himself. What more do you need? The guys a jerk, plain and simple, and if Beamer wants to get control of his program, he ought to sit him down for at least one game next year. But he won't.
Of course Vick was trying to hurt him. And he succeeded. Dumervill was limping for a while afterwards.
Here's a hypothetical: What could Vick do to prove that he's a total jerk? Whip out a pistol on the field and go bezerk a la The Last Boy Scout? Just let me know so we can drop the subject until it happens.

Vick gave some underaged girls some alcohol...
How many of you had something to drink before you were legal?
Vick got caught driving too fast...
Nobody on this board has been caught for speeding?
I don't see how we let this thuggish Big lipped beast roam freely amongst us...(Chappelle)...
Do you honestly believe that Vick is some renegade, untameable(sp) animal that would just step on someone's leg for no reason? I'm not saying he was right to do so, but having played football and knowing the stuff that goes on that everyone doesn't see, I understand...
Frankly, I have no problem with Vick...he did his year, and now he's square with the house...
And Frank Beamer would be a damn fool to sit him...so that was idiotic to even suggest that...but if the NCAA steps in and decides to suspend him, you should be concerned about the double-standard...
Sorry, but you will see Vick on Sundays...

Correct me if I'm wrong, Aggy, but wasn't a college-age Vick caught with a 15-year old girl?
Answer me a question, Aggy -- if Vick were white, would you be standing up for him?

THUG is defined as a tough or violent ruffian, hoodlum or gangster. Rayful Edmonds is a thug...not Marcus Vick... yes...I think he was caught with a 15 year old girl... does that make him stupid for not being careful? Yes...Marcus Vick could have sex with various women of all legal ages in the Tidewater Va. area. Having been a substitute teacher I could see how easily a 15 year old could pass for someone older. That doesn't excuse him for making a bad desision. But I seriously doubt that he's a sexual predator, combing the high schools, looking for prey... the only reason I'm defending him is because what he did didn't equate to him being labeled a THUG...and the only reason he was called a thug is because he is black...sorry if you don't believe that...

You didn't answer my question. As for "thug," I'm not going to pretend I know every bad decision Vick has made, but intentionally trying to injure another player seems pretty bad to me. Not Rayful Edmonds bad, but are you going to argue over degree? Since I'm not the one you used the word "thug" I'm not going to pretend whether or I know intent or subconscious reasons for using it. But it seems like you came running to defend a guy who was kicked out of his school for a year, arrested for various crimes, flipped off his own fans and now it looks like he was trying to injure an opposing player. You came running over what is essentially a semantic argument. I don't remember you defending UVA's left tackle.
