We got nothing out of the Massoud/Bristol position tonight. Bristol defended well, which is his strength. Offensively he is a good outlet to pass to as he finds open players, but scoring hasn't been a strenght most games. I would have like to see Fielder in for longer stretches. Agree. I was thinking offense when I posted that stream of consciousness comment.

We just couldn't get over the hump tonight. Made a run at the end, but too little, too late.

Theres something going on with Heath and a couple teammates. This team turns very selfish at the wrong times. Heath or Epps? Heath has been wide open and not getting the pass. Epps isn't looking to pass and has teammates open. Epps 6/19 FG's, 3/13 3pt's, 7 asst Needs to pass more especially when you have 7 assts vs 13 missed shots and 10 of those shots are beyond the 3pt line

We had strong efforts from our Hoyas. Seton Hall is definitely not a good match up for the Hoyas. At this point no team in the Big East is a good matchup except for DePaul and that is a 50/50 toss up.

Creighton and Marquette will blow the doors off of this team because of their offensive efficiency and our complete lack of any semblance of defense. Providence, Villanova, Seton Hall, DePaul - not so much.

I personally love the villain arc. Now win some Editeding games next year. Carino absolutely hates Georgetown so this tweet is no surprise.

The fat kid in the black sweatshirt in the front row behind the basket on the Hoyas' bench end was chirping all night -- mostly nonsense about "Divine Providence". I didn't hear him say the money bit, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't him. I'd say Cooley was exceedingly restrained, and in good spirits with everything else.
After a particularly exasperating sequence in the second half, Ed turned to Big Mike Sweetney - who was sitting just behind the bench - and said "Hey, Sweetney! You're in!"
He's obviously into these games and attempting to teach throughout the game, and I don't see the losing taking a toll on that. He's pushing his guys in the right direction, and getting them ready for better things.

The offensive sets have been much crisper for the most part. We just have too few weapons. The strengths and weaknesses don't mesh well, obviously. Bristol is an obvious plus defensively, rebounding and from an energy perspective. But he's abysmal on the offensive end. You're playing 4 on 5 on that end. Rowan is mostly good defensively - although he's had two poor breakdowns tonight. But again, offensively he's a big minus. Flipside. Heath, Massoud (I guess) and Fielder are somewhat competent offensively or at least can't be left wide open - but defensively are a dumpster fire of epic proportions. And no combo of the above doesn't leave you short a man on offense or a layup line on defense. And Cook is Rudy. The coach tells every kid if you had his heart and work ethic you'd be a star. But he just doesn't have the talent to match. Keep playing hard. Try and steal a win. This!! Have alot of bench players on a good team playing starters minutes. I see why Tang told Massoud your role is the same. He is a guy who can't play major minutes at a power 6 level. Cook as Rudy is perfect. Dude is giving us so much but he is a back-up big in a top level BE team. Someone who works hard but is limited by skill.

Defense is shambolic but enough data points to understand that it’s the players. We will continue to be awful this year. Better pray we develop, frosh are good, and we cook in the portal.

I can't really get too upset at that because he is a competitor and wants to win and he sees who he is playing with besides Styles and Cook.

My two cents:
I never feel confident when Epps is bringing the ball up the court. He's definitely cut down on his turnovers, but I don't feel any real dynamism in the offensive set. Sometimes it gets going, but too often the passing seems a little out of synch, no flow. I don't know.
I know EC is pretty good at drawing up solid plays after a time out, but I don't see a consistently capable X's and O's guy when we're struggling on offense. Holloway has guys cutting and setting picks and moving well. I wish we'd see more of that, esp. when we need to score the ball. Launching bad 3's is not going to win us many games.
Told my son that these are the games we will more of next year. That's 4-5 games we were still in with a few minutes left.
I don't think SH is a bad matchup for us. I do think they have the benefit of more time together and more confidence in their game, but we played them close overall with some grit and athleticism. And Epps shot badly tonight.
When they showed the graphic with the 4 Quad 1 wins for SH, I thought that they could stand a loss to us without hurting their tourney standing, right?
We got away with a couple of fouls, but I thought that Trez and Wayne got a couple of calls each on very light questionable fouls.
Discouraged but still looking at the trajectory of a team that is doing things better with each passing week. We hadn't turned the ball over once and there were just 6 minutes left in the second half. We had double figure points in the paint and in assists -- not sure when the last time we did that was. Late game execution is still wanting, but I see some heart and resilience in our players every game.
Bring on UConn.

I really thought Bristol was going to be a real 3pt threat. Nope He was when he came to the Hilltop, but that disappeared and Cooley and his assistants haven't been able to resurrect it. It’s called a significant change in competition level.

It was an awful shot. But also literally noone trying to get open But often that's because the ball sticks with Epps while he dribbles. The guys get used to being stagnant until he makes his "move." Ding, ding, ding - we have a winner!

Epps is also being affected by his usage (out of necessity). He would be so much more efficient playing half the game off the ball. If only we were allowed to use 13 scholarships maybe we could recruit somebody to allow Epps to play off the ball.

One hour before the game and there are 11 posts in the game’s discussion thread. I’m old enough to remember when there were 12 pages of discussion before a game. Did we hit rock bottom? Would be really interesting to know how many ppl regularly post here now as compared to 10,15,20 years ago? Is the drop off in line with the drop in attendance? Yes. Far fewer. I think I have been around since the late 90s if I recall correctly. Though lack of team success is one reason for the drop, the toxicity of some posters and the Admins refusal to enforce board rules has driven many away too. Please DM me the board rules not being followed. --Admin
