I’ve never seen a team who gets less fast breaks than this one. With recent teams we had them, but usually botched them. This team literally gets none. That was a fast break. We just botched it. Epps had guy wide open on his left and inexplicably tried to dribble through the guy in front of him.

Don't let SHU get a double digit lead at half, please.

The offensive sets have been much crisper for the most part. We just have too few weapons. The strengths and weaknesses don't mesh well, obviously.
Bristol is an obvious plus defensively, rebounding and from an energy perspective. But he's abysmal on the offensive end. You're playing 4 on 5 on that end. Rowan is mostly good defensively - although he's had two poor breakdowns tonight. But again, offensively he's a big minus.
Flipside. Heath, Massoud (I guess) and Fielder are somewhat competent offensively or at least can't be left wide open - but defensively are a dumpster fire of epic proportions. And no combo of the above doesn't leave you short a man on offense or a layup line on defense. And Cook is Rudy. The coach tells every kid if you had his heart and work ethic you'd be a star. But he just doesn't have the talent to match.
Keep playing hard. Try and steal a win.

Hoyas have kept this game close. They are playing rather well with ball movement and defense. Styles has pretty much been the only offensive player who is on. Styles shooting and hustle has been a nice change and deeply needed.

Earlier this season I was perhaps overly critical of Cook. I think he has improved almost all phases of his game.

That was really one of the better halves we’ve played all year. Styles was key obviously. Massoud stinks and shouldn’t be playing unless he’s hitting threes. His defense at the bottom of the zone was horrendous.
We are in this one.

Earlier this season I was perhaps overly critical of Cook. I think he has improved almost all phases of his game. He really has. Cook was really timid early in the season and would have stretches where he would get aggressive and more active. Now he is playing that way the whole game. The downside is fouls and staying in control so not getting too aggressive.

Cook is good defensively, but often is undersized in match-ups and that is tough to overcome. Cook does a lot with the size he has and has good defensive footwork mostly.

This is the Styles I've been waiting to show up. An active Styles who is also looking to shoot with set shots helps a lot.

He is really off tonight. Looks like he is feeling better, but shot is off, not seeing the court well, and trying to do too much so far.

Excellent ball movement leading to that 3 by Heath.

Bounce pass sighting. Heath used bounce pass to avoid a picked of pass up top.

If we let Hall extend its lead with Bediako and Richmond on the bench we are done.

I feel like we’ve played decently and yet down a dozen. There’s just no margin for error for this team.
