Is this another Le Moyne? Or are they a solid low-major? Any chance we learn more about this team from this game? I think it's huge to just gain confidence and learn to play together in Cooley's system, and demonstrating that with 37 point victories is more than enough for me, but just curious if we'll see more in this one.

Holy Cross is a 300 range team, so not much better. Rutgers will be the first true test for us next week.

Will be there for my first one of the year. Looking forward to a fired up crowd and a good recruit turnout (Sorber, Williams, Lewis again, others?)
I'm thinking Heath may slip back into the starting lineup in game 2. Not because of how he or Rowan played, but... it was pretty strange for Rowan to start and then not initiate the offense for a majority of the game. Epps was definitely handling de facto PG duties.
I'm guessing that was just a result of getting Jay back up and running after an extended pre-season rest. As long as all is OK after his 24 minutes in the opener, I'll bet he goes back into the first 5.

This is a step up. which may say more about Lemoyne than HC. They are small, so perhaps another big game from Mr. Cook.
Does anyone remember a chant about Holy Cross only eating apple sauce? Factor in that I'm a BC "legacy" and close to ancient.

I think it would be a new role for him but one that could suit him.

Plus it allows Epps to not have to carry the load from a ballhandling standpoint. The PG from LeMoyne gave Epps fits early in the second half when he played tight D, that will be scouted and Brumbaugh starting alleviates that pressure on Epps at least for the first few minutes.

I had slightly different view - I thought Rowen did much better job getting the ball up the court and getting into the offense. yes Epps had all the assists, but I saw that as both doing their jobs… Admittedly I’m still learning these guys names….and don’t remember Heath specifically… I want to see Cook do more of the same. drew play better D and stay on the court and Rowen / Epps keep building that continuity between them…

We haven't had that kind of thing in too long, and he's experienced as well. He could get starter stats and minutes off the bench, and would be tough to defend coming in fresh

Factor in that I'm a BC "legacy" and close to ancient. Holy Cross should be a little bit better than Lemoyne was the other night. They had a competitive game against Siena in their first game. The Hoyas should be a more athletic and bigger/stronger team so if they continue to play consistent and solid team defense for the entire game, Holy Cross will probably struggle to score and the Hoyas should be able to pull away. Just want to see continued growth and improvement from the last game and get the team ready for what should be their first real test against Rutgers.

One game at a time, One win at a time. Looking at this schedule we have a real chance at being 7-0 with a home game against TCU. Living in Central NY its hard to get back for games, but I have a group of 4 Die Hard Hoyas fans/ Alumni driving down for the TCU game and Syracuse game cant wait! Its nice to make the trip with some hope of competency.

It feels so refreshing to actually look ahead at our schedule, anticipate our next game, and just have some general excitement about the team again. I can't wait for Saturday and I'm not sure the last time I felt that way...

Well, Holy Cross mirrors Georgetown in number of NCAA championships, and an NIT win to boot. They seem long ago for both. Sigh.

HC shot 50% (10-20) from 3. I would like to see Cooley’s perimeter defense limit HC to under 30%.

HC shot 50% (10-20) from 3. I would like to see Cooley’s perimeter defense limit HC to under 30%. IIRC, good three point defenses do it less by reducing shooting % and more by reducing shots, because teams don't tend to take a ton of contested threes. So I'd take 35-40% and only 15 shots as well.
