That is great. I hope he scored that many while playing SG and it didn't play out like Primo Part II. Thanks a lot. I had almost entirely eliminated the Primo Spears era from my memory.

The interview with the assistant coaches they both seem really high on Heath and Epps as a backcourt I cannot recall any other assistants giving interviews like these in the past. So, it's another change in approach from the previous way Georgetown operated its program.

Thanks a lot. I had almost entirely eliminated the Primo Spears era from my memory. Seems like since Heath didnt play and Rowan started the scrimmage that he didn't play PG. The interview with the assistant coaches they both seem really high on Heath and Epps as a backcourt They were obviously high on Epps and you could tell they couldn't wait for Heath to be healthy. But even if those two end up being the starting guards, in no way did they claim they were high on the idea of them as a backcourt. This is not to say they are not high on the idea, just that they did not even appear to suggest it. What the one guy in charge of guard development did say in a manner of speaking was that he was very high overall on the guards on the roster. That suggests he meant Brumbaugh as well. Granted Epps would likely not have needed to take 24 shots if Heath suited up, but I am guessing many of those shots he had were set up quite nicely by Brumbaugh. From what I've read from a couple of sources Brumbaugh, despite not scoring a lot, played very well and was racking up dimes. I get that Epps has to learn to play the role of a facilitator more (something the coaches were quoted on saying they were stressing to him in one of those college basketball previews), but I feel confident there is no guard currently on the Hoyas roster who can run an offense better than Brumbaugh.

I didn't say they claimed it. I said if Epps did that and Battle seemed like he is really high on Heath. If that's the backcourt then they seem to think we are gonna be fine there. That's all I meant.

I’ll be fine if Epps averages 46 ppg this season!

Imagine looking at Drew Fielder and thinking “that’s a dude who won’t be able to stand up to a full BE season”

I’ll be fine if Epps averages 46 ppg this season! And I'd be fine if Epps averaged 4.6 APG this season! 😀

I am hopeful that there is enough to work with the PG hero ball is not the answer. I am not interested in watching that.

We didn't see Jayden Epps all summer, and in a scrimmage he puts up an insanely efficient 46 points. It'd be nice if we could all celebrate that it appears that there's a high ceiling here and save the comparisons to Primo Spears until there's an actual game you can see to criticize and grump about.

"I would not be surprised if the Georgetown Hoyas stole a spot in March Madness after a two-year hiatus, even though they have the conference’s lowest KenPom ranking at 159. Their most recent appearance came after winning the Big East Tournament as a No. 8 seed in 2021, but even if the automatic bid is not in reach, the Hoyas have the talent to secure their first at-large selection since 2015. Jay Heath, Wayne Bristol Jr. and Ryan Mutombo all stayed in Washington, DC amid the coaching change from Patrick Ewing to Ed Cooley, making up 21% of the team’s returning minutes and 26% of their scoring from 2022-23. Gone are Primo Spears and Brandon Murray, both of whom departed for Power 5 schools; in are University of North Carolina guard Dontrez Styles, University of Illinois guard Jayden Epps and All-MAAC Third Team selection Supreme Cook. Averaging a career-high 13.1 points as a junior, Cook covered both sides of the glass with the Fairfield Stags at 3.2 offensive rebounds and 5.2 defensive boards per game." dailycampus.com/2023/10/19/the-coleumn-could-the-big-east-conference-be-a-seven-bid-league/

You must be new here. Grumping is the national sport of Hoya talk. In fairness, there has been a lot to grump about. But not the 46 points in a winning effort. That’s an excuse, a talking point too many here fall back on. Instead of treating this new chapter as, well, a new chapter, people rather gripe as if they are reading the same disappointing book. Who moves on to a new novel by a new author and thinks to themselves “prove to me that this story won’t be just as horrid as the last three or four I read from the previous author”?

I get what you are saying but the publishing company is the same.

If your post was directed to me, it is misguided. My reference to grumping is to what happened to our program in past seasons. I am optimistic about the future and not grumping about it.
