So we have any indication of how close we are getting here? "A couple weeks" - Cooley at practice media avail yesterday Cast off. Not cleared for contact yet. Is doing the shooting and passing drills as well as set play walk-throughs at this stage. So basically Syracuse at the earliest. I was hoping maybe he could play against TCU

Against TCU, Ish had 16 points, shot 40% from 3, had 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals. He led the Hoyas in made 3 pointers albeit on more shots, rebounds, blocks, and steals. Certainly, he is part of the 3 headed Hoya monster with Epps and Styles, and arguably our best player. I am thankful that Ish appears to be the real deal.
Love his game.

So much for the posts that he is a terrible rebounder. I wonder what else might not be correct in those posts?

It’s beginning to look a lot like Ish-mas! Like a lot of folks here, I was expecting a sniper, not a pit bull. Rebounds and blocks and D in general are looking to be way more than hoped for and even given that his communication and leadership are bigger deals. He is chatting to teammates all the time and generally making sure the team is together. Already my favorite current Dawg.

Where did this young man come from? Did he fall out of a tree? Since he got healthy, we look so much more competitive. Love the defensive intensity and the rebounding. Wow. Can we clone him?

Add all of that to the calm and maturity he exudes while on the court. One moment in the TCU game showed me a lot. TCU was pressing and trapping, and Ish had picked up his dribble and was stuck. He used his height and body to fend off the pesky Horned Frogs while pivoting to find an open teammate, which he did after a few long seconds. No panic, no worry. If he can exhibit those qualities and a level-headed sense of calm to his teammates, esp. the younger ones, lots of good things will start to happen not the least being fewer turnovers and overall smarter play. Also, the dude's an assassin sharpshooter. Streaky, yes, but I will not be surprised if Cooley and Co. help him up that area of his game and we see fewer sharp ups and downs. They already have him upping his defensive game, right? Love the team I see emerging if Cooley's use of the top 6-8 is smart and strategic as I expect it will be.
