From simply looking at stats and a few highlights, my impression is that he is similar in game to Kaiden Rice. Capable of getting super hot from three on occasion, but now much in terms of anything else on the court. FWIW...a three point specialist who you ride when he's hot, and sit when he is not, is needed on this team, so I am NOT complaining. But for those who know....does he bring more than what I have stated? I think Kaiden was a "net negative."

To echo MCI, I am very happy to have him on the team. I also think it's interesting that both in the Mutombo/Heath interview, and also in this one, Heath was called out for being funny/having a good sense of humor. It's interesting to hear Massoud say whenever you look at Heath he's smiling, etc. It seems like night-and-day from the attitude our team had last year. I really think if we are going to be any good this year, Massoud will be a big part of it. By March, I think it's likely we will be wishing we had him for more than one year. In 2023, his playing time was fairly limited but impactful. I would expect his minutes to go way up this year, particularly with the loss of Akok.

Love hearing Ish talk about his involvement on the MBB team in the context of what it means to him to be at Georgetown his senior year. Also love hearing and seeing the players talk about the year ahead and about each other. There seems to be solid sincere appreciation of teammates, and they seem to really like and enjoy each other. That can only make on-court play and facing the almost certain ups and downs of the year ahead better IMO.
Agree that the attitude seems night and day from last year -- to me it always seemed that the players banded together and supported each other often in unity in facing the coach's criticism and decisions. Would love to see a team that is united in leaning on one another and pushing each other to play their best and be a team in good times and bad.
Lastly, I am really curious to watch Ryan this year -- if he can rekindle the fire and love of basketball and rediscover his game, it could be huge for us, esp. since he seems to be one of the best-liked player on the team. Which also makes him a de facto leader I think. His brand of thoughtful conviction and what he brings to the practice and games I think would land well with his teammates.

For what it’s worth, he talks about getting back on court “end of the month” if all goes well. Think we would all love to see that. Also, Ish just sounds like a very nice, personable and bright guy.

Massoud was on the bench today in the Mount St. Mary's game and was NOT wearing a cast on his hand

We need this kid. Gives us much needed flexibility up front and from deep.

I am really hoping we can have him back for the Syracuse/Notre Dame games. I care less about TCU since that one is going to be hard to win no matter who is on our roster. But Syracuse and Notre Dame are still really winnable OOC games.

Through a couple of games, what we have with this year’s Hoyas is coming into focus. Styles is a 6’6” stud. Fielder and Rowan are freshman contributing but still adapting to this level of the game eaching showing moments of great promise. Epps’ offensive ceiling is very high but he is young and needs to mature a bit to be a consistent every night star. Cook is a journeyman starter who can give you something but leaves you wanting more.
I don’t know if that is enough to have much success in conference play. We need one more piece….a player who is better than expected. If Ish is that guy, then it opens the door to 4+ wins in conference. If not, then I am afraid it will be a rough year.

Problem is our biggest need is rebounding and despite his size- Ish hasn't really shown that rebounding is a strength. Shooting yes. Lets hope he surprises.

So we have any indication of how close we are getting here? "A couple weeks" - Cooley at practice media avail yesterday Cast off. Not cleared for contact yet. Is doing the shooting and passing drills as well as set play walk-throughs at this stage.
