Just relieved. Time to move on. Quite frankly, I believe Ewing is relieved.

Glad the Ewing coaching era is over, but I do not have confidence that the right replacement coach will be a good hire.

“…. Grateful to Patrick Ewing for his courage and leadership…”
Courage?!? As a physician for the past 26 years who has treated patients battling for their lives I find the use of that word offensive. This is our GU president. Shameful!

I know it had to be done, especially the last three games, when it seemed that he lost our players including the games. But it also saddens me that our best player ever had to be fired. Many on this board were not even around for Pat's hay day (the board wasn't even around then), but those days were magical as Georgetown basketball had arrived. I wish Patrick the best as he celebrates his being a Hoya. This is a huge reason you don’t hire your program legend in the first place.

We’re leading news stories again by making this happen. Now lets lead news stories by hiring Pitino.

Please, not Pitino.
I hope Georgetown does not go to the dark side of college athletics. A leopard doesn’t change their spots.

I am glad the University did not delay the inevitable. The Ewing hire just never worked out, and it was time to move on. I feel badly for him that things did not end better for him. Unfortunately, it just never came together.
Now, I hope the University will be decisive in picking the next coach. This needs to be a strong hire. The program is at a pivotal point. The most important thing is to hire a coach with a high floor who can rebuild this program.

I believe Jack and Reed don’t want that baggage to enter Thompson Center.

I'm not sure this card is available to play anymore as the the most recent coach was trying to win at all costs. He just wasn't good at it.

Where do you get Pitino as “win at any cost”? So Louisville was not great but he was judged not responsible, and where else has he had issues? GTown’a last coach had personal sexual issues and could not graduate anybody. Is that suckitude at any cost?

We just fired a coach that tried to strip a scholarship from the one guy who decided to stick with the team and school and instead opted to become a manager on the team in order to get a degree. Our APR has us set up to be sanctioned by the NCAA. I am so sick of all this holier than thou Georgetown BS.

Please, not Pitino. I hope Georgetown does not go to the dark side of college athletics. A leopard doesn’t change their spots. When does one's past stop dogging them and allow them to evolve, change, and show themselves to be better? In addition to to exoneration by the independent IARP, the years in Greece, and his last 3 years at Iona, Pitino has conducted his programs under the watchful eye (read "intense scrutiny") of the NCAA. At what point do we let the last 6 years say more, tell us more than the 6-8 years prior? If you think that once a _______, always a ______ (a leopard doesn't change their spots"), then you must believe that people can't change for the better and there's no such thing as redemption or second chances. That's a sad and hopeless place -- I don't want to live in that world. I hope Georgetown hires Pitino and puts on display for the world to see its values of forgiveness and redemption and the belief that we can always be working to be our better selves.

If we about forgiveness and redemption, Todd Bozeman would be a good choice.

Kevin Ollie is intriguing! Always loved watching him coach at UConn.
