Very annoying for a strong OOC opponent. You may get ESPN+ if you have a premium Hulu/Disney package. When you remain irrelevant for a decade you get relegated to secondary channels and don’t get invitations to premier tournaments. The downward spiral takes hold and is difficult to turn around. I doubt us being bad has anything to do with the game being on ESPN+. A lot of Big 12 games when they are home are on ESPN+ no matter the opponent. TCU and Providence are also on ESPN+ tomorrow. As Hoyaguy said this is just espn Trying to bury the big east and big 12. Why even have a big east big 12 challenge if you are not going to televise it. Who is going to pay for what is essentially a $9.99 pay per view.

Basically, they were badly outcoached. The more things change…

I bought it back when we played Oklahoma out there because I couldn't find it anywhere else but fortunately for me I also like UFC so it worked out that I use it enough to make it worth it.

What is the word about Murray. Playing or not. Not understanding the secrecy.

What is the word about Murray. Playing or not. Not understanding the secrecy. Reportedly, a lower back injury so no mystery AFAIK. For anyone who's ever had a back issue, recovery is always day-to-day. I think the greater mystery is Dante Harris. Still listed on the roster and even in the boxscore I saw, listed as a DNP. So what's the deal there???

Who is going to pay for what is essentially a $9.99 pay per view. I will since I want to see the game, have a streak of games going, and cannot watch live, so want to see the replay. But, I'm also not the typical fan, either. I was hoping for a free trial, but as far as I can tell, there are none available for ESPN+. So, I guess it's $9.99 for a month. They do offer it with Hulu and Disney + for $14.99 a month, so if any of you already subscribe to those, that might be economical. I don't fully understand ESPN's distinction between ESPN3 (free) and ESPN+ (not free). I am not sure why some games go on one versus the other. I mean, they cannot possibly be making a ton of money by putting this game on ESPN+. Other than a handful of Georgetown fans and maybe a few more Texas Tech fans, how many people will realistically pay solely for that game? The type of people who come to HoyaTalk and whatever the Texas Tech equivalent is, that's basically it.

For those who don't check out the articles thread, this article posted by Dan has some good pre-game quotes from Ewing. t.co/ToYhe6L6vo

I'm conflicted. On one hand, having seen TT play Creighton, I think we will be destroyed by TT defense tonight. On the other, the eternal optimist in me says that maybe playing a road game against a quality opponent will bring out the best in our team and our coach. But then again I still think there is a good chance that UMBC may be our last win of the year.

The type of people who come to HoyaTalk and whatever the Texas Tech equivalent is, that's basically it. ESPN3 is the bridge between linear cable ESPN (i.e, additional content for those that already have cable subscriptions) and full streaming via ESPN+. If you don't have cable, or your cable service is not a participant, it's not an option. Long term, it's probably going to be sunsetted in favor of the streaming option, because of the marginal revenue gain. And if it's not on ESPN+, it's likely not televised at all. The agreement with the conferences probably requires carriage and the Big 12 relies on a lot of ESPN+ broadcasts as a result until they move to Fox. Had the Big East not left ESPN, most Georgetown games would be on ESPN+ by default. ESPN+ is not a problem to watch (10 of 11 Georgetown football games were broadcast there) but it's only as good as the production setup, which is more loosely managed by the network.

A bar will have to pay an extra bar subscription for ESPN+ so most bars do not carry it. This is really just a gimmick by money sucking Disney/ESPN to the to get you to subscribe to their dumb sports streaming service. At least with Viacom/NBC Peackock you get sports and moves for $4.99 which is a great deal.

We have actually done really well against Packline teams (Liberty, wisc greeen bay) whereas past Ewing teams have really struggled vs Pack Line. So it should be interesting to see how we fair against No Middle which has the similar goal of clogging the paint to make dribble penetration and low post moves difficult.

What needs to go right? What more do they need other than show up on time?

drquigley: Man you sound bumbed out. If we are not going to win any more games, what are you going to be doing with your time. 😊. I follow on my phone - this way I won't yell at the TV.

I could not have even imagined saying this in the 43 years I have been a Hoya fan:
My wife is a huge Little House on the Prairie fan. Melissa Gilbert is promoting her new book about her time on the show here in Albany with a one hour Q & A followed by a book signing all starting at 7. My wife of course wants very much to go, but said she would understand if I wanted to stay home and watch the game (already get ESPN+ on our flat screen with our Fire stick). I never gave it a moment's thought - Melissa here I come.
