France against Morocco, its former Protectorate. You couldn't script it any better. They'll be trashtalking each other en français.

I hope morocco gets to the final for so many reasons including that. But also because France plays the most boring soccer in relation to the amount of talent they have. It’s one thing to sit back and not create a ton of chances when you’re the underdog, but the fact that they had less xG (expect goals so quality shots basically) against England than Morocco did against Portugal is just stupid. Deschamps was always an average coach but wow it could’ve been a massacre if England was more competent in the final third and France’s chances didn’t hit like what happened in the last Euros. This is a case similar to Pep at barca where you would have to genuinely try to put out a bad lineup but in this case they play much more boring

For a lot of people from the Middle East, Africa and the broader decolonized world, the Moroccan team is “fighting a symbolic war,” argued Monica Marks, a professor of Middle East politics at New York University’s campus in Abu Dhabi. It’s one that taps into “a lingering sense of insult,” she said, “a collective wound to their pride and history” that rankles to this day. On its way to the precipice of a World Cup final, Morocco has defeated a succession of European powers: First Belgium, then cross-strait neighbor Spain and finally Portugal in the quarterfinal. Now, Morocco is set to meet France, which controlled the North African nation as a protectorate for more than four decades in the first half of the 20th century. www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/12/13/morocco-france-world-cup-history-politics-baggage/

Benzema May be activated for the final but manager Didier Deschamps refuses to answer journalists questions regarding Benzema.

Dr. Gounder is a class act. She certainly has my sympathy.

Dr. Gounder is a class act. She certainly has my sympathy. She certainly is. Still tragic. As an aside, there but for the grace of God goes Jeff Green. This was essentially what was discovered on his Celtics physical - and saved his life with surgical repair at the Cleveland Clinic. Generally not symptomatic until it is (usually) too late.

He did not need this win for validation but I am thrilled that Messi now has the period that ends all sentences.

This reminded me of Kobe jumping on the table at Staples after the Lakers beat the Celtics in game 7, except that was in front of thousands of fans, and happened to have been in a game in which Kobe was pretty much terrible, unlike Messi (at least that's what I understand; I still didn't watch a minute of this).
