Surprisingly, a coaching change in the late summer at a Division I school necessitates the opening of a new thread:
Newly added information is in bold. Current and former Big East Conference head coaches are indicated in italics. Open Division I head coaching positions are indicated by underline. There is presently one Division I head coaching vacancy.
NORTH CAROLINA A&T (Big South)-- Will Jones (3 years; 12-20 in the 2021-2022 season; 37-35 at NCA&T and overall) was fired August 18, 2022, and replaced as head coach on an interim basis for the 2022-2023 season by Philip Shumpert (assistant coach at NCA&T); the university did not release any terms of the compensation package for Shumpert.

Hartford sent the team on the road to play a scrimmage and wouldn't allow them to bring a trainer with them. Kid got hurt during the scrimmage. They also cut off the Director of Basketball Ops credit card. He's the guy responsible for paying for meals, etc. for the team when they're on the road. Part of the deal with Gallagher when they decided to downgrade from DI to DIII was that if he didn't go public with complaints, they would honor his contract. Gallagher decided he had enough of the BS, resigned and went public.

That's what I read online as well...decided to not "clutter" the regular post with those details, but they are important and demonstrate how poorly UH treated the program after deciding to reclassify from D-1 to D-3. Kudos to Gallagher for not going silently into that good night. When university decisions put student/athletes at risk of physical harm, they should not go unchallenged.
