I hope to see Jordan Riley & Allen pressing the dust out of opposing guards someday soon. Allen is a great get & all Hoya sinews take a dip in recruiting. It’s just what happens.

O.K., boys -- back to the topic -- Marvel Allen. Or go gripe and snipe at each other in a different thread devoted to griping and sniping. EVERY thread is devoted to griping and sniping right now - it's the off-season! True, many of us gripe and snipe and repeat ourselves because there's nothing new to talk about. But it's another thing for some people who seem to post on HoyaTalk only to complain or talk about different posters, including the particular one who focuses on my posts, calls me a bot, and makes snarky comments about posters without ever adding any substance. We could do without that part, I think. In fact, to bring it back to Allen, one of the examples of that was my stating I was happy we got Allen, then noting that others talked about his performance this summer, and somehow that warranted wasting everyone's time with a post calling me out for what amounts to nothing. To confirm once again, I am glad to have Allen in the fold, I think he can develop into a nice piece, and the key to creating a base for success is recruiting top 100-types. Allen's commitment is in line with that. In my mind, I don't care if his stock has fallen, or if he falls in the ratings. We need top 100-150 type guys, and he is one of them, so I am glad he committed.

Go back and huddle with boya, 9797 and rest of your ilk to figure out the next negative angle to put on repeat.

How anyone could NOT be happy to get a 6 4 guard ranked in the top 30 by everyone, boggles my mind.

You attack him and call him a bot. He defends himself a little, tries to stay on topic and says a few nice things about Allen. You complain he's being endlessly repetitive and negative. How about reading someone's post for a change and maybe posting about basketball or the program instead of kneejerk character attacks on 2003 and acting like a creepy message board stalker?

I looked at your last 20 posts. 19 were about basketball, one about politics. Leaving the political one aside, all of your posts involved criticism of a handful of posters, oftentimes using insults: Me/HoyaSaxa2003: Calling me a " crafty bot," and then a " bot" that blathers. hoyaboya: Who you called at various times a " clown," " dope," and " effing ray of sunshine"; accusing him of using a sock puppet. hoya9797: Called him a " loser," a 13 year old, a " serial harasser," a " pointless troll," and you told him to " get a life" TC: Criticized him for repetitive posts Even your non-critical posts were about other posters, referencing Yaboy and RDF leaving. I am certain if we go further back your history of attacking and harassing other posters will be even more clear. You talk about other people getting banned (particularly hoyaboya), yet all you do is harass. Obviously, you've been around here a long time and presumably like/love Georgetown, but I don't understand your strategy of insulting everyone else for their posts while adding nothing yourself. If you want to chat basketball, I'm all ears, but enough with your years of hurling insults and other nonsense.

This isn't true TC. 2003 is accepting Boya's analysis of Allen as fact and it lowers his excitement about the commitment. So Boya has once again gotten this poster and a few others to not be happy about the future direction of the team. Allen by all accounts is the 2nd highest recruit that Ewing has gotten a commitment from and he's actively recruiting a even higher ranked big (Miranda). The board should be excited but Boya has tempered excitement by convincing people that Allen isn't really that good. Even if Allen wasn't injured and he was exposed this summer he is still a 6'4" high 4* recruit. Boya has convinced some that he is similar to a Collin Holloway.

I don't think I commented on this commit but good job by anyone involved bringing him in, like I get the whole crazy transfer era we are in but Marvel and his ranking, whatever it may end up being, is the kind of player you build with long term goals in mind. Like not necessarily NBA high draft but by year 2 or 3 he is a genuine beast in the conference

I swear sometimes people do not read. This is what I have said about Allen: 1: "I am surprised that this hasn't gotten more attention - but this seems like a good get. Nickelberry is clearly making a pretty big difference." 2: "This seems like a good get (especially coming off the season we had last year), even if Allen's stock has fallen somewhat of late. Obviously, Nickelberry is better at relationships/connections than our previous staff was." 3: "For what it's worth, I think Allen (or really, any top 100 recruit at this point) is a great get. I am not changing or expressing any different opinion here. My comment about the falling stock was directly in response to what a few other people said (I would not have known that had other people not said it here). We need top 100-type talent, and that is Allen. So he's a great get." On the basis of these three statements, one poster who just called me a weirdo (talk about pot meeting kettle) claimed I was backtracking, and I am "not happy about the future direction of the team"? This makes no sense. The fact is, multiple people have said Allen's stock will probably fall, not just hoyaboya. No big deal. He's still a good player. I want him on our team. If people find fault with this, they are looking for problems and ignoring my written words.

The key is going to be keeping and developing a kid like this for two to three years in order for it to translate to W's. This has been our issue. We need to get old. If Primo has three years remaining, we need all three. Same thing with Ezewiro, Akok, Wahab, Heath. Everyone says Murray is a pro next year and if he gets drafted, I am all good with that. We can't have these guys dropping in for a year and then trying for the league and not getting drafted.
That should be the minimum bar for going early. We also can't have the wholesale transfers situation we have always had. Maybe a guy transfers because he has a kid in the same grade or younger who is taking all his minutes, but we can't have the McClung/Akinjo/Wahab type transfers where they are getting all the minutes they can handle and still leave. That is going to be the difference for someone like Marvell and to get Gtown back on track.

Also development isnt just about shooting better or improving handle or speed/strength or defending ect. The staff has to prove it can develop a team identity/culture

He and Miranda have both stated that they want to play together and Miranda has visited. Yet you poo poo the commitment with your 2# above statement based off Boya's comments. He's literally the only person that said this as if his bad summer is who he really is as a player. It was posted by another poster where Yaboy said on Twitter that Marvel was injured. You don't accept the positive but accept the negative. It's not just you 2003. The board is infested with posters who would rather gripe about the past than have hope for the future 🤷🏾♂️
