This is just false. I swear sometimes people do not read. This is what I have said about Allen: 1: "I am surprised that this hasn't gotten more attention - but this seems like a good get. Nickelberry is clearly making a pretty big difference." 2: "This seems like a good get (especially coming off the season we had last year), even if Allen's stock has fallen somewhat of late. Obviously, Nickelberry is better at relationships/connections than our previous staff was." 3: "For what it's worth, I think Allen (or really, any top 100 recruit at this point) is a great get. I am not changing or expressing any different opinion here. My comment about the falling stock was directly in response to what a few other people said (I would not have known that had other people not said it here). We need top 100-type talent, and that is Allen. So he's a great get." On the basis of these three statements, one poster who just called me a weirdo (talk about pot meeting kettle) claimed I was backtracking, and I am "not happy about the future direction of the team"? This makes no sense. The fact is, multiple people have said Allen's stock will probably fall, not just hoyaboya. No big deal. He's still a good player. I want him on our team. If people find fault with this, they are looking for problems and ignoring my written words. 2003 as of right now, this moment, Marvel Allen is a top 50 recruit and a top 10 CG in the country. He and Miranda have both stated that they want to play together and Miranda has visited. Yet you poo poo the commitment with your 2# above statement based off Boya's comments. He's literally the only person that said this as if his bad summer is who he really is as a player. It was posted by another poster where Yaboy said on Twitter that Marvel was injured. You don't accept the positive but accept the negative. It's not just you 2003. The board is infested with posters who would rather gripe about the past than have hope for the future 🤷🏾♂️ Be fair Zeke, 2003 said Allen was either a good or great get multiple times but you choose to focus on the supposedly negative "falling rankings" comment in his posts. I get that October came early this year but why focus on the negative Zeke?

Nothing in my comment was intended to "poo poo" the commitment. As I've said, I am glad he committed, and I don't really care if his ratings fall. I read Yaboy's posts about his injury. Either way, it seems likely his rankings will fall, even if because of injury (which is a common reason why someone might fall in rankings). And, I don't really care, because he's still ranked well higher than a lot other guys, so a good commitment. Again, good add, and I look forward to seeing him in 2023-2024.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong... But I think the issue is the fact that even when certain people share their positive support for good news, they seem to always end the positive support sentence with a show of negative support. When this happens, it leaves one to question whether or not it was really a display of positive support. Why must is read like, "well, I like the move, but I hate the move too"? Why can't it just be, "I like the move"? Its that some sort of coping mechanism? Is that a show to the crew that, "Just because I made a positive statement, it doesn't mean that I have abandoned the crew. I'm still down for the cause." Just a thought...

We shouldn't be committing like "oh I hope he's a good 4yr player". It should be expected that he will be gone in 3yrs. Marvel should be considered the cherry on top. IMO

You’ve got a point but, in my view the worst of the bunch, and there are two who come to mind, are completely absent when there is a positive development like this recruit. They are lurking and waiting for the next piece of bad news.

2003 posts Marvel Allen is a good get, compliments Nickelberry. You attack him and call him a bot. He defends himself a little, tries to stay on topic and says a few nice things about Allen. You complain he's being endlessly repetitive and negative. How about reading someone's post for a change and maybe posting about basketball or the program instead of kneejerk character attacks on 2003 and acting like a creepy message board stalker? This isn't true TC. 2003 is accepting Boya's analysis of Allen as fact and it lowers his excitement about the commitment. So Boya has once again gotten this poster and a few others to not be happy about the future direction of the team. Allen by all accounts is the 2nd highest recruit that Ewing has gotten a commitment from and he's actively recruiting a even higher ranked big (Miranda). The board should be excited but Boya has tempered excitement by convincing people that Allen isn't really that good. Even if Allen wasn't injured and he was exposed this summer he is still a 6'4" high 4* recruit. Boya has convinced some that he is similar to a Collin Holloway. Zeke, your concern for boya's influence on hoyasaxa2003's view of Marvel Allen's recruitment is perhaps the greatest thing ever written on the internet, hilarious! That said, Collin Holloway is a fine player, and will be a load as an upperclassman. Be nice

We just got a commitment from a borderline 5* kid and we have 5 pages on this thread. With 2.5 being back and forth about posters. I am praying for a at large tourney bid next year.

Omg, 9797 is in on it too? Well, that does it. No way Georgetown can keep Ewing, let alone keep Ewing AND get any talented recruits or transfers to come here, without the unequivocal support of program cornerstones hoyaboya, hoyasaxa2003, and hoya9797.. I can hear Marvel now, “Great to meet you guys, but I have an early flight tomorrow, gotta hit the sack! See ya next year”

I never said anything about him being a 4 year player. This thread has turned into crazy town of people saying I saying things I just haven't said. 2. I have said multiple times now I am glad Allen committed. I am not sure how many different ways to say that, but apparently that doesn't satiate some people. 3. As far as "it should be expected he will be gone in 3yrs" - I appreciate your opinion and that's totally fine, but the idea that everyone needs to adopt that opinion makes no sense on a message board. I really have no opinion on this anyway. It's way too premature to know how long a player "should" stay. I haven't commented at all as far as how long I think he'll be a college player. So, there's a lot of discussion about nothing here. I have now said, multiple times, that I think Allen is a good get, and somehow that's not good enough for some people here.

The fact that there are 5 pages about a commitment like this speaks more to the state of the program as a whole, and less about Marvel Allen. After 0-20, a lot of fans checked out.

Thrilled we got this commitment. Seems a bit better than getting a commit from a borderline Top 300 recruit in April of his senior year.
Welcome Marvel!

Definitely a good addition and something positive. I’m not worried about where his ratings end up. We do a pretty good job of overhyping incoming freshmen on this board so something to look forward to next summer.
Also, 2003 you’ve been very clear. No need to explain it anymore. People will choose to read something however they want.

Next thing you know HB will be saying we aren’t getting the Chris Evans version of Marvel.
