This seems like a good get (especially coming off the season we had last year), even if Allen's stock has fallen somewhat of late. Obviously, Nickelberry is better at relationships/connections than our previous staff was. What a crafty bot - throwing just a tad more shade than it did in its previous post about this exact same topic. Well done, bot!

What a crafty bot - throwing just a tad more shade than it did in its previous post about this exact same topic. Well done, bot! I bet if one were to look back at your last 20 posts, probably 18 of them would be throwing shade at various posters, while contributing nothing yourself. Per typical, you throw around insults or sarcastic comments with no substance, while at the same time complaining about posters who you allege do the same thing. For what it's worth, I think Allen (or really, any top 100 recruit at this point) is a great get. I am not changing or expressing any different opinion here. My comment about the falling stock was directly in response to what a few other people said (I would not have known that had other people not said it here). We need top 100-type talent, and that is Allen. So he's a great get.

When it’s all said and done Marvel will probably end up in the 50s or 60s rankings wise. He’s had a tough summer and hasn’t been as effective against tougher competition. That’s totally fine by me - the skillset is still there along with his solid IQ athleticism and size, think it will just take some time to adjust. Don’t think we need a one and done type guy if we want this program to really build a solid foundation. I read he was #27.

Height/Weight: 6'4/195 (listed measurements), most likely a legit 6'2 - 6'3 and 185-190 High School/AAU: Montverde Academy (FL)/Nike EYBL The Skill Factory (GA) Weekend Performance: 9.2ppg, 3asst, 26.6 FG% and 11% from distance on 19 attempts over six games Mainstream Ranking: As predicted, Allen's stock is slipping. He's now down to #50 overall on 247 and #69 overall for On3. Still holding on to top-25 overall status with both Rivals and ESPN, but I'd anticipate those services following suit as well. EM Ranking/Evaluation: I've been subtle in saying that I'm not a huge fan of Allen. To be candid, Marvel has the look of a 100-150 level prospect as opposed to a borderline 5-star. He's a below-average shooter as a catch + shoot floorspacer (shooting 22.7% from distance during EYBL play) and isn't good enough as a playmaker for others to justify playing him on-ball with heavy volume. Allen is a solid athlete, but lacks twitch and doesn't possess great acceleration. But he is strong and can absorb contact when going downhill, getting to the charity stripe at a nice clip for a guard. The fundamental issue for me is that he's functionally a bully-ball wing in the body of a SG. Just don't know that he has the necessary athleticism, given his size, to thrive in that sort of role in the B10. Recruitment: Offered in late March. Juwan Howard was courtside for both of Allen's games on Thursday. There are connections here, as Allen is the former HS teammate of incoming freshman Greg Glenn. Current AAU teammate of Isaiah Collier for The Skill Factory as well, so the staff has evaluated Marvel extensively over the last year. Took OV to Georgetown in May and the Hoyas still seem to be a serious player here. Says he is 100% taking an official visit to Michigan with Florida State, Texas A&M and LSU being the other contenders. Reading between the lines, this seems similar to the Greg Glenn situation last year. Allen isn't as high on the board in relation to others, but might be the fallback option should we strike out with more coveted options. If Juwan Howard makes a serious push and Marvel does end up visiting, it's likely Marvel ends up in the class. mgoblog.com/content/hoops-recruiting-surveying-backcourt-4

That #27 ranking is right now. Trillest is predicting a drop in his ranking as he completes his senior year. We all expect GU commits to drop in the rankings, nature of the beast, but let's hope this kid plays UP to his potential and makes it hard for the naysayers to drop him. I see the motor necessary and the defensive beast mode is certainly a plus. Ironically, he'll get dinged for focusing on his D, though it is the next level skill that will win games at every level he plays at. Whatever the ranking, I like the kid and reports that he is our dawg. Plus he seems to be pushing others to come play here, all at a time when traction is improbable. To me, that just makes him more likeable, an embrace of the against the odds mentality. So welcome aboard kid, nose down but head up, keep that work coming. Can't wait to see you in Blue and Gray.

When healthy, he’s been a monster. Don’t think ranking matters all that much. Kid should be a 2-3 year player for us and a damn good one.

The only people I've seen suggesting that his injury was significant are Twitterverse members of the Ewing/Ronny Thompson mafia. The fact is that he played this spring and summer, didn't impress, most top schools backed away from recruiting him, and he committed to Georgetown. Seems clear that the claims of "injury" only came after he played poorly in an attempt to explain that level of performance, which was frankly pretty awful for a kid that came into this AAU season a consensus top 50 player. He won't drop in the rankings because he committed to Georgetown, he won't drop in the rankings because he decided to play "injured". He will drop in the rankings because he performed poorly on the biggest stage going into his senior season, while other guys improved their stock.

UofM was 3 deep for each of his game as was LSU. Kansas was probably the only high major offer he had that wasn’t commitable.

He has nothing better to do. I do feel for the kid's family, who has to read this garbage, especially from someone who spews negativity on every thread because (again) he has nothing else to do with his day. He's ruined the site.

I do believe in his heart of hearts he is a GTown fan but at some point 2yrs ago he decided Ewing must go for him to root for the team. Boya is shaking in his boots because he knows that this team is really talented and Ewing ain't going anywhere anytime soon. 9797 on the other hand imo isn't a GTown bball fan. I have never seen one positive post from him about GTown bball and he's been a member for years. Boya just would stop posting when things go good but in the past I've seen positive posts from Boya. 9797 even when things are going well he shows up with negative comments.

And it's now Ewing's sole mission to take this "really talented" team back to relevance and beyond in the Big East. As another poster said, there can be no more excuses. Here's hoping he pulls it off.

But he's so negative and the agenda is so poorly veiled that he's another I added to the mute list.
