Question for Hoya Historians here. To my knowledge, the only Hoya players with NBA championship rings would be Jaren Jackson and Alonzo. Otto could be the third. We've obviously had great players lose in the Finals. Am I missing some players who won rings? On the roster for the Finals, on the winning team ... not that I remember recently But I think the 2019 Toronto Raptors had the option of offering Greg Monroe a ring for having been on the team that season, but I doubt they were that tight www.quora.com/How-many-people-get-NBA-championship-rings-when-the-team-wins-the-championship"Note: at the discretion of the team, they will offer championship ring to players who were not with the team at the end of the season. The Cleveland Cavaliers offered their 2015–16 championship ring to Anderson Varejao even though he was traded to the Golden State Warriors in December. But Andy declined the ring to show his new alligence to the GSW. In the following year, the GSW offered their 2016–17 championship ring to Varejao after he was traded to the Portland Trailblazers. This time Andy gladly accepted it. Also, the GSW offered their 2017–18 championship ring to Omri Casspi even though he was cut from the team right before the playoff in April." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Monroe#Toronto_Raptors_(2018%E2%80%932019)"Toronto Raptors (2018–2019) On August 10, 2018, Monroe signed with the Toronto Raptors.[28] On February 7, 2019, Monroe was traded to the Brooklyn Nets with a 2021 second-round pick in exchange for cash considerations. He was immediately waived by the Nets."

It's going to be tough to see where he will get more minutes...even though he deserves them. Kerr plays Curry, Green, Klay and Wiggins 35-40 minutes a game. Then Looney somewhere in the ballpark of 20. Otto can't play the 5. So all he has is the spare minutes at the 3 and the 4 when Wiggins and Green sit. Green should be sat...but Kerr is never doing that. Warriors are also poorly built for this series in the frontcourt. Green was abused by Robert Williams multiple times on the offensive glass. Green literally can't hit a jumper and yet his so called tenacity, leadership, etc etc - basically keeps him on the floor all night. It's a shame for Otto. Funny enough I actually think there is a good chance Otto is a Celtic next year. He would be an ideal 6-7 man for them and maybe even a spot starter with jaylen brown, Tatum and Ottom at the 2-3-4. Interesting points. Draymond is having a rough series so far, but up to this point he'd been playing great defense, getting assists, and hitting timely jumpers and 3's. The size and athleticism of Boston seem to be a bad matchup for him and the Warriors as a whole. This is where Wiseman being out for the year hurts. His defense wasn't great in his first year, but at the very least, he would have provided depth at the 5 and a big, athletic body. The fact that we've basically only been rolling with one 5 all year (Looney) is kind of insane when you think about it. Otto is a much better shooter than Draymond, but you'd probably lose a bit defensively. I think you'll still see Otto in the 20-25 minutes range for Game 4 - could change with Draymond foul trouble, or we might see more Kuminga. Hope Otto and the Warriors can step up all aspects of their game - shooting, defense, rebounding, protecting the ball. Otherwise, they could continue to get exposed in the 4th quarter, and no amount of empty Otto Porter pint glasses will ease that pain. I thought Porter was 6’9”.

Otto is playing thru a foot strain and GSW has kept his minutes down all year to prevent injury. He might not survive a minutes increase.

That said, you do lose a little defensively on beefier guys from Draymond to Otto. And, on offense, Otto isn't the facilitator that Draymond can be. But, Otto is the far better offensive threat individually. Also, Draymond is a dirty player and gets away with it on the regular for no good reason other than having won titles. If he were officiated like a guy like Otto would be, Draymond would pick up a flagrant per game and would rarely make it past the third quarter. The Dubs need that latitude to help them to win. This postseason, that's Draymond's greatest contribution.

Boston’s Robert Williams looks and moves a lot like Kobe Clark

Otto getting the start tonight! Unfortunately, he did not make the most of his opportunity. That said, he looked hurt, limping at times. Made a couple FTs, but just 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, missed 2 open threes, +/- of -1 overall. Only played 15 minutes and seems to have sat the entire 4th. I'd be surprised if he starts Game 5 because he didn't generate the spark Kerr was looking for, though I appreciate Coach mixing it up. Hope Otto can dig deep, fight through pain, and do whatever it takes the next 2-3 games to bring home a ring. Steph is amazing, but I don't think he can do it all every night, the supporting cast will need to step up (like Wiggins did last night, whose game reminds me of Jeff Green's). Klay and much maligned Draymond are the most likely candidates, but Otto has shown he can have a 18-20 point night in these playoffs if his shot is clicking. However, his rebounds, assists, and steals are what could be the difference in a close game. All that said, he's clearly banged up, but everybody is at some level at this point, so hope he can push through. Should be a fun next 2-3 games. Go Otto, Go Warriors.

Otto again getting the start last night... made the first bucket of the game and then was pretty quiet rest of the way, again not playing in the 4th quarter. That said, Kerr seems to like the look of an extra shooter on the floor coming out of the gate, and the lineup helped the Warriors get off to a fast start. For this reason, I imagine Otto will start in Game 6.
15 minutes, 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block, 2 fouls, 1-3 FG, 0-2 3pt FG (nice wing 3 in the 3rd quarter that didn't count due to offensive foul), +6.
Go Otto, Go Warriors. 1 more to go.

I do not think he is fully healthy. He is limping a bit every so often and not moving quite as well as usual. But would love for him to contribute and get a ring.

Kerr has been leaning on vets too much. Kuminga should be playing. Warriors lack of athleticism has hurt them. They are fortunate to be up 3-2.

Asking a 19 year rookie who's seemingly been out of the rotation for 2 months to play in the most important time of the year seems like a recipe for disaster. As forceful of a talent he is, he's also going to make a ton of mistakes and now is not when you can afford to play through them. Especially on defense. They started him for several games during the Grizzlies series and he was a deer in headlights.

He seems to be guiding the ship quite nicely toward a goal. The newbies will transition in as the old guys fade out. Kuminga, Wiseman, Pool, and on and on. They contribute now, learning the winning style of Kerr. Will be the names of the future with occasional spotlights now. Meantime Thompson, Curry, Green and even Wiggins will carry the heavy weight. Go Dubs. Take it in Boston.
