I mean, it helps when your last name is a beer style, but San Francisco Brewing Company has plenty of love for Otto Porter (click on the arrow to the right). http://instagr.am/p/CeT0m9Jpbtr Alongside the Chef Curry IPA, Klay-Day Kolsch, and Draymond's Double IPA. Porter FTW. I can only assume the Draymond Double has dirt in the bottom of the glass.

Otto is such a phenomenal baller. Great fit with the Warriors too, looks so confident and schwaggy out there. Fun to watch. If Klay doesn't snap out of his funk, Otto should get some of his minutes

Love it! Otto is truly deserving!
On another note, what do you all think about his chances of staying with San Francisco, and getting a huge raise?

I have no feeling for whether or not he'll stick with the Warriors but he's definitely in line for a longer term contract and a significant raise. IMO, the Warriors would be making a big mistake in letting him go. Some nights he'll put up offensive numbers because he a competent shooter, especially for a team that spaces the floor like they do. But, he also gets his hands in passing lanes for steals and tips and he can board. He's, likely, never going to be your player of the game but he's the kind of guy that helps to push winning teams over the top.

Obviously as a Hoya and Warriors fan, I'd love to see him stay for all the reasons listed above. That said, there's no shortage of talent on this team, and with Otto's injury history, I can see them instead investing in a younger player like Jonathan Kuminga that has more explosivity and upside. Nothing is guaranteed, so as the proud owner of an Otto Porter Jr. Warriors jersey, I'm just going to enjoy the last few games of this season, after which hopefully Otto gets his ring. After that, whatever happens happens.

How do Celtics adjust to Draymond Green, Otto Porter’s smothering defense? So much of the Warriors’ defensive success in Game 2 came down to nailing their bets on some of their help gambles, with Otto Porter Jr. making great reads all night. Take this first play below, where the Celtics are spaced out with their two bigs in the corners and two ballhandlers up top in a last-possession situation. When Derrick White spun off to reject a Jayson Tatum screen and get deep into the paint, Porter made an early call for the low man, Kevon Looney, to step to the ball. Even though he’s closer to the drive, he knows he is the faster player and is in position to guard two places at once. Porter then had to dance between Looney’s man, Daniel Theis, in the dunker spot behind the hoop and his own man, Grant Williams, who lifted out of the deep corner to open up the kickout lane for Derrick White. Boston tucked the bigs in the corners to open up the lane before the play starts, knowing the Warriors keep their defenders for the corner shooters in the middle of the lane. When a corner defender sinks in to help, the shooter is in their rear view and should be able to easily step into the passing window. That’s exactly what Williams did here with his lift to the elbow, but White faked to him as he got in the air to then try to drop it off to Theis. Porter somehow managed not to bite on this fake and put his hand in position to tap the ball to Looney. Porter was brilliant all night with getting his hands in to create turnovers and likely is going to force Boston to adjust to make bounce passes on drop-offs in Game 3. ... Porter and Steph Curry were so good at splitting the gaps when they had to handle two shooters at once. Porter somehow had five deflections in 15 minutes, while he, Curry and Green had more deflections combined (20) than the entire Celtics roster (18). theathletic.com/3354389/2022/06/08/celtics-warriors-defense-film-study/

The Warriors had a luxury tax bill this year almost as large as their actual payroll -- $170M compared to $176M. They are $39M over the luxury tax threshold right now. Their bill is almost double any other team's (Brooklyn at $97M). www.spotrac.com/nba/tax/2021/I don't know the specifics of how re-signing your own free agents affects your luxury tax bill, but I have to imagine if Otto commands more than the minimum, they won't be able to sign him, given the tax. He fits very well in their system, but I think any championship caliber team will appreciate what he brings to the table at this point. Just don't know how many of the top teams will have more than the minimum to offer him. Always was a winning player. Stoked he'll get a championship.

Hard to believe GS doesn’t play OP3 more, the ball moves so much better when he is in there. Gotta bethel injuries.

He’s 7 of 9 from three in the Finals so far.

I say, play the Man! Otto clearly is more comfortable--and confident out there than most.

I say, play the Man! Otto clearly is more comfortable--and confident out there than most. It's going to be tough to see where he will get more minutes...even though he deserves them. Kerr plays Curry, Green, Klay and Wiggins 35-40 minutes a game. Then Looney somewhere in the ballpark of 20. Otto can't play the 5. So all he has is the spare minutes at the 3 and the 4 when Wiggins and Green sit. Green should be sat...but Kerr is never doing that. Warriors are also poorly built for this series in the frontcourt. Green was abused by Robert Williams multiple times on the offensive glass. Green literally can't hit a jumper and yet his so called tenacity, leadership, etc etc - basically keeps him on the floor all night. It's a shame for Otto. Funny enough I actually think there is a good chance Otto is a Celtic next year. He would be an ideal 6-7 man for them and maybe even a spot starter with jaylen brown, Tatum and Ottom at the 2-3-4.

Question for Hoya Historians here. To my knowledge, the only Hoya players with NBA championship rings would be Jaren Jackson and Alonzo. Otto could be the third. We've obviously had great players lose in the Finals. Am I missing some players who won rings?

Interesting points. Draymond is having a rough series so far, but up to this point he'd been playing great defense, getting assists, and hitting timely jumpers and 3's. The size and athleticism of Boston seem to be a bad matchup for him and the Warriors as a whole. This is where Wiseman being out for the year hurts. His defense wasn't great in his first year, but at the very least, he would have provided depth at the 5 and a big, athletic body. The fact that we've basically only been rolling with one 5 all year (Looney) is kind of insane when you think about it. Otto is a much better shooter than Draymond, but you'd probably lose a bit defensively. I think you'll still see Otto in the 20-25 minutes range for Game 4 - could change with Draymond foul trouble, or we might see more Kuminga. Hope Otto and the Warriors can step up all aspects of their game - shooting, defense, rebounding, protecting the ball. Otherwise, they could continue to get exposed in the 4th quarter, and no amount of empty Otto Porter pint glasses will ease that pain.
