I didn’t see anything in his post saying other people were OK with the state of the program. But even you have to admit that the relentless negativity from certain posters is a bit much. And yes it makes this place a cesspool and yes that discourages casual observers sometimes fans and even some diehards from coming on here You left out the most important part of my post: Build it and they will come (even with the 2 or 3 posters). Name the “certain posters”. Let’s look at their posts to see if they are accurate or just trolling. You’re probably going to say boya, but he’s taken the recruiting informant role (along with 315, NEWYORKA, and sorry if ILeft someone out). You left out YaBoyNyP. . oh, never mind.😒

See if we can steer this back to the topic. Went to see if the Dawg Talk podcast had anything new since the show after the BET. They didn't, so I listened to that show again. It's been a bunch of months after all. Plus I like hearing Chris & Austin do their thing. It was fun to hear them break down the BET action, and I was reminded of something that has made me change my mind. After the bitter end of last year's disastrous season, I had forgotten how well Dante played and the way he was a leader in those games and influenced so much of the action at both ends of the floor. It's so hot and humid out that there was only one thing to do: watch highlights of the Syracuse game, of course. Dante was playing smart, high level ball the last 5 games of the regular season and throughout the BET. In addition to last season being a mess from Dartmouth to the end, it is again very clear that Dante played injured for a bunch of games. Now, there's blame to go around for Dante and the rest of the team and coaches (throw Jack DeGioia in there, too). That was then, this is now. We're living and playing now -- so let's see who's bringing what once the season begins.
All of this made me think of the starting 5. We have some serious talent and all sorts of reasons why Dante should or shouldn't be in the starting 5. Maybe it will play itself out in practices, Maybe the coaches will decide beforehand. But I say the spot is Dante's to lose. He's a junior. He could have left and no one would blame him, but he stayed. He never mouths off or gets and attitude on social media. All he does is go about his business, works his butt off, stays focused, does his job. He has a lot to show the newbies about Hoya basketball. Let the warrior start and make a teammate play better and lead better to put him on the bench at the start of the game.

I see posts saying that Primo Spears is also awaiting a waiver -- is this correct? I know that Qudus got a waiver after a second transfer in 2 years b/c the UM coach left. Jay Heath needs a waiver because he is transferring for the second time without a coaching change. I also know that Covid and the explosion of the transfer portal has changed things. Do we know when Jay and the team will find out about the waiver? Is is assumed that he is a "go" and will play this year? Can anyone clear up the sitch with Primo? (And if anything I have written here is wrong, LMK.)

Getting kind of crazy.

Less than a week out. As of now - No Harris. No Heath. What will that look like?
My stab at lineups.
Starters:
Primo Murray Mozone Akok Wahab
Bench:
Anglin Riley Bristol Ezewiro
Emergency Break Glass or Light the Cigar Group:
Mutombo Bass Muresan

I think he can get acclimated to this level, he can really help against the teams with elite athletes next year and maybe later this year if the growth is there. If heath is eligible, I like us to win most of the mid major games.

Agree with dense. Bass is supposed to be supremely athletic and should get the chance to help the team. He has to be in the bench bunch on the list. OTH, I know little to nothing about Bristol, who had a solid freshman year at Howard but hasn't played in, what, 2 years? I remember people liking that we picked him up, but he remains a big question mark. Would love if he can give us 5-8 minutes, more if he's a good fit out there.
Glad to see Riley on the bench -- as we know his offense during Kenner was rough, but word is his defense was very good. He's got some serious muscle and elite vertical ups.
In the end, I join the legions of fans who are really looking forward to seeing what we have here. Praying for 2 things right now: 1) that Harris and Heath are on the team and can play, and 2) that our defense is up to the job in ways it hasn't been for a while. 6 days - let's go!

His length is a significant advantage against most teams and if his perimeter defense can improve some, his offense if more than capable for around 10 minutes a game. I expect the Q will get the majority of the minutes at center, but Ryan should see time every game to help keep Q fresh and out of foul trouble

God, yes -- somehow I forgot Ryan. I don't see how he doesn't get fairly significant minutes. Think about it -- who are looking to down low, around the basket on defense and on offense? Q, of course, Akok, sure. Ezewiro - is said to be a beast around the basket, but Kenner reports indicated inconsistent effort. Plus, he hasn't played a lot. Big question mark -- could be great or could be what PE would politely call "a work in progress". He's listed as a center, but I have been thinking of him more as a power forward to form an intimidating front line with Q and Akok. Maybe when we go small, he plays center.
O.K. - what if, God forbid, Akok gets injured. Who comes off the bench to fill that spot? Mozone? Ezewiro? Bass? All 3 decent sized question marks. Ryan is something less of a question mark, but like bostonfan said, if he can give 10-12 quality minutes with defensive help mostly, that would be huge.We really don't know much about Ryan's game and any upgrades since March. On offense, if he can kick it back out effectively and maybe hit that sweet 10-footer he seems to have down, that's a bonus.
Ryan is a super friendly, well-liked player and classmate (my kid is also a sophomore and speaks highly and fondly of Ryan from little social interactions to his contribution to class -- pretty great). He also is going through a lot with Dikembe's medical challenges. I wish the best for both men and the Mutumbo family -- and I hope we get to cheer on Ryan throughout this season.

I would hope that Ryan Mutombo is a regular part of the rotation. He has great length and while he is not quick and may be a defensive liability, the same can be said of Wahab. Ryan does not have Wahab's strength on the boards and in the paint, but Wahab has not shown that he can be a factor on offense away from the basket while Ryan has that potential. I think that all the potential that Ewing and others spoke of while recruiting Ryan is still there and I don't think the player will develop quickly without PT.

I echo the sentiments of others that hopes Ryan has a big leap in terms of on court progress. But from the little I've heard through the grapevine re: practice/scrimmages/etc. - it seems that Ezewiro is ahead of Ryan in the pecking order. And that Ryan is not expected to be a big contributor this season. Would love to be wrong.

"If you’ve been travelling the streets on Washington, DC, perhaps you’ve seen the new Metrobus advertisements featuring Akok Akok, Primo Spears, Brandon Murray, and Qudus Wahab of the Georgetown Hoyas touting that “DC’s College Hoops Team is Back.” Let’s hope so. With less than a week away to the opening game, perhaps Patrick Ewing has revealed these four transfers as focal points for success. Or perhaps, after last year’s 0-19 debacle, the returning players are actually under the bus? (Too soon, too easy. Sorry)." www.casualhoya.com/2022/11/2/23437050/links-georgetown-may-have-revealed-its-starting-four-murray-wahab-spears-akok-harris-heath
