Matt Rizzo would be on the list, but apparently he is injured.

Lucas Guerra also qualified in the 1500m, which makes 12 men going to Indiana.

In this week's national rankings the women jumped five places to 77th. The men jumped two places to 41st. I don't know how both teams jumped up some places, because they did not have any more results this week.

Just to be clear, do the top 12 in each event, men's and women's, go to Nationals?

Just to be clear, do the top 12 in each event, men's and women's, go to Nationals? This is correct. 12 student-athletes advance from each region for each individual event and 12 teams advance for each relay event. If you want to be more technical... it isn't necessarily the 12 best times/marks that go on, depending on the event, but maybe that isn't what you meant. For example, to make it to Eugene in the 1500m... There are four heats in the first round. The top five runners from each heat automatically advance to the quarterfinals two days later. If you aren't top five in your heat, you only move on if you have one of the four fastest times of the remaining runners that didn't finish top 5 in their heat. Then in the quarterfinals it is similar, but there are only two heats. The top 5 from each heat and the next best two times advance to Eugene. It's all part of the fun! If you're in the last heat and the earlier ones were slow and tactical, maybe it's beneficial to push the pace so your heat gets all the time qualifiers.

Yes, in heats like this with moving on determined by finishing top places plus otherwise being the next fastest, it is always beneficial being in the last heat. It doesn't always work out that way. In distances like the 1500m it is beneficial to have a Kenyan in the race, who takes the race out fast, no matter the number of the heat.

Spencer Brown is running the 110H for Ole Miss (obviously not our grad)
Men's 1500m Heat 1 3. Jack Salisbury 3:48.48 Q
Heat 3 6.Abel TEFFRA Georgetown [FR] 3:44.29 q 24 Lucas GUERRA Georgetown [FR] 3:47.70 Heat 4 33 Camden GILMORE Georgetown [SO] 3:49.23 41 Matthew PAYAMPS Georgetown [SO] 3:51.43 Matt fell apart in the last 200m.

Heat 3 in the 1500m had the Kenyan Kipsang, the collegiate record holder, and thus all time qualifiers were in heat 3.

In the beggars can't be choosey category, the live stream is free for the regional, but it is not up close and personal, and it is a bit hard to distinguish the runners. And now there is a bug in lane 8 of the 400m (shining through the camera). Now moved into lane 5. The bug "qualified" by coming in 3rd.

800m Heat 2 Tim MCINERNEY DNF (dropped out with 200m to go. Seems to be the theme for the Hoyas; that last 200m must be tough. )

Miles Brown of Michigan, former Hoya recruit, before he reneged on coming to Georgetown, qualified in the 800m.

It is raining very hard now. The 200m and 10000m to go. Maybe a rain delay.

Just over halfway in the 10000m the leading Hoya is Matt Young at #20. The top 12 go to Eugene.

Not a good day for the men as only two of 10 runners qualified for the next round.
72 degrees with 84% humidity.

Pretty disappointing considering the quality of some of our runners, hope the women do well tomorrow.
