Gotta wonder how the Villanova fans are feeling about the ROI on Kyle Neptune and his $4.4M/year contract these days...

I assume he doesn't want to risk injury and hurt his draft stock - similar to football players opting out of bowl games.

I meant in the second half of the Creighton game. Box score shows 24 minutes. Their best player didn't play 35+ minutes? Strange...

Not great, but the blunt fact is that the traditional eastern-based programs drive more viewers. Villanova, Georgetown (when we are good), St. Johns, Connecticut, etc. The tournament sold out all sessions this year, so it's still strong. I just don't think a team from Wisconsin playing a team from Ohio is going to push as many viewers as the more well known schools.

I saw a few things about Nova above and from what I have heard regarding Cam, It was something to the effect of Cam getting burned on defense several times and it was either the coach quit on the player or the player quit on the coach type of thing, I don't know if I believe that but that is what I am seeing on the Nova boards. There are already people wanting Neptune fired which I think is way premature, When Jay Wright first came to nova, Nova was in the NIT for a few years before they had a breakthrough in 2005, it just takes time and replacing someone with the success Jay Wright had, good luck with that. When Coach Wright announced his retirement, I think the other Big East teams saw blood in the water and the Nova injuries didn't help and it was just a forgetful year, No chemistry whatsoever. The Big East as a whole imo needs a good showing in the NCAA Tournament, Marquette really has been playing lights out all year and I think they have a hell of a chance to get to the Final Four. I am not sold on UConn for some reason, Marquette and Xavier I think can make the most noise in the Big East.
I am a sucker for tradition though, I want to see a Big East Tournament semifnals of Villanova, Georgetown, St. John's, UConn, hell even Providence. I think of those teams from the late 80's, early 90s and I am not even talking about 1985. When the Big East realigned, I was hopeful of a Villanova vs Georgetown in the Big East Championship game. I am sure now that the Patrick Ewing coaching era is over, Georgetown can work on building up the program, I hate Georgetown and I will always say that but the program has so much tradition and when Georgetown is good, It's good for the Big East. My other ramblings since I am at it is when shortly after the Big East re-aligned and the specials of Requiem of the Big East talking about the Big East demise. It's been almost 10 years, I may be the minority and I know Villanova benefited greatly from the re-alignment, but I like this version of the Big East. I like UConn is back, I like Shaka at Marquette, the league is competitve and fun to watch. I won't get into my thoughts on Georgetown but the silver lining is, somebody else is coming to Georgetown and even if Georgetown has a halfway decent coach, they will be worlds better than they have been and let's face it, Georgetown should be playing on Thursday of the Big East Tournament and not DePaul. Georgetown belongs back near the top and I look forward to that because it will be that much sweeter when Villanova beats them. I hope you find a decent coach and I am sure the Georgetown program will be back where it belongs.

Yeahhhhh ideally at least one team in the final is nova, Uconn, or us, or some combination of 2 which shows the maximum value and viewership there. If Marquette finds stable footing for multiple seasons as a top end seed then they can certainly carry more water

I’m not really sure if comparing a Selection Sunday day game to a game played on Saturday night (i.e., not a big TV night) is a great comparison. I’d be more interested in how it did versus other events on Saturday night, and against past BET finals. I suspect that, as others have said, the lesser draw was the result of the schools involved, not some overall decline in interest in the BET.

Mediocre Kyle Neptune losing the locker room. Probably shouldn’t have benched KAM in the BET. Kam’s uncle didn’t like that

That's really not a good time slot - really too early. I would think if it was more in prime time like it used to be on ESPN, that it would get better ratings.
