When his dream job was not in the cards, Pat was handed a great gig he was not looking for and is earning approximately 8 times what he was making as an assistant coach in the NBA. In fact, he’s earning around what an average NBA head coach makes. He’ll be fine.

Slightly more organized effort on defense, same result - Much better pick and roll coverage. The biggest adjustment I saw was the willingness of our guards to fight over screens. There were multiple screens they just blew up / wouldn't let happen, and then the effort fighting over minimized how far out the big had to go and they could stay home a little more. There also looked like something resembling a plan on skip passes to the corner. If Dante had crashed down to the roller, the guard on the wing had corner responsibility and Dante knew to immediately sprint out to the wing. They botched it one time but pulled it off a few other times successfully. Will give credit where possible to adjustments made by staff / players
- The rest of the defense though was still a problem. This was on more traditional off ball screens getting caught, or Don going under O'Connell screens. Or even O'Connell just rising over Beard off the dribble. These are slightly more difficult shots than the stand still 3s we gave up on Saturday, but the result was ultimately the same.
- The transition defense is really bad, it's not guys being lazy imo, it's just a complete lack of court balance and Ewing prioritizing crashing the offensive glass. NBA teams have actually stopped crashing the boards so much as giving up transition looks is more dangerous. For us we desperately need offensive rebounds because we miss so many shots but it's been a losing trade for us.
- Down the stretch...we actually switched screens? Crazy how that works. In all seriousness, putting Rice at center helped him on defense because he didn't have to chase around Kalkbrenner, and then Creighton stopped running their offense in an effort to take advantage of switches in the post. Except that's really difficult to do, we did a reasonable job fronting the post and then coming with a double team. On offense, now Kalkbrenner had nowhere to hide, I think he was guarding Aminu, and it was much more difficult for him to stay connected when we ran pick and pop etc. On one play he straight vacated the lane for a layup. Can we really play that lineup? I don't know, we did something very similar in the @ Butler game. You're playing with fire on the boards, we got burned not getting rebounds on two free throws. I think it's apparent Ewing doesn't want to play this lineup and will do it only when behind or when he can't stomach any of the centers.
- I just can't watch Dante shoot this much. It's a perfect nightmare of a defense perfectly willing to concede a low quality shot that we think is more valuable than it is. 14 midrange 2s, even if 6-14 isn't terrible, a 40% 2 point shot is not helpful. A 34% usage rate from him and an 18% from Carey is malpractice.
5 games against NCAA tourney teams and home for DePaul left. Big yikes

We have selected few people that come on thread just to see coach Ewing and the team fail. There’s no words of encouragement. The team is struggling it’s a bad season. It happens in life when things are not going well. Yes, I understand everyone has the right to express their opinion and we are sport fans. The coach is to be held accountable. But come on guys this team is young, inexperienced and not very good right now. What is your idea of the couch being held accountable? There’s been some recruiting mistakes and maybe hiring a defensive assistant coach. That’s on the head coach.

Let’s start talking the historical comeback by our Hoyas. Yes, it’s very bad we are losing in the BE. But we will not be the last team to finish last and accumulate these many losses in the BE regular season. The season is not over technically, we still got the BET where anything can happen.

I noticed for some it’s about the money coach Ewing is earning as head coach. One thing I learned early in life don’t worry about another man money. It’s sad people come on this thread and discuss well he’s making 3.5 or 4 million dollars. Georgetown is getting their return on investment maybe not from the Cap Center. Patrick Ewing is an commodity.

Like the lack of discipline with Rice and his shot selection and --yes--with Aminu and his forced and highly contested shots that more often than not are missed from inside the lane, there is a desperate need for some exercise of control by the coach and accountability for making the same poor decisions repeatedly. I know this season is over and the program is as low as you can get but until the last loss in early March the coaches need to try and improve these kids and a player like Harris can be much better than he is with a little more discipline and a little less freedom on the court. This is a great point, and Creighton is a great example. Put bluntly, our shot selection stinks. Rice plays hot potato with the ball and launches a three point shot nearly every time he gets the ball, regardless of how good the shot is. Harris takes a lot of long twos and/or gets stuffed at the rim. Aminu takes out of control shots. We get almost no assists. And, the list goes on. This is all coaching. Did anybody notice that Creighton, over our two games with them, essentially NEVER took long twos? There may have been one here and there, but I do not remember any. Does the water in Nebraska prevent long twos, but in DC it calls for them in abundance? Of course not. This is all coaching. While Ewing stands on the sidelines shouting "MOVE!" McDermott's Creighton team is actually moving the ball, working for good shots, and executing a game plan. That's coaching. And, we don't have it. Creighton is also inexperienced and pretty young, so that excuse doesn't fly either. A good coach gets their plan and focus into the player's heads so they can execute it. I am not sure where the break is in our instance. Either Ewing is not imparting a plan in a constructive way, or the plan itself is problematic (or both).

You have iconic figure that bring an audiences who may not have paid attention to Gtown brand until they hired the iconic figure. Whether it’s short or long term Gtown will benefit.
