Really like this addition to the team. You can never have too many shooters with size. I know his mom, and they're super excited. Ewing is really tapping into SC ballers. He also offered another of Wilson's teammates, Gregory Jackson, ranked 30 in the '23 class. I talk to his dad about Georgetown all the time. lol The one we really need to be on hard is Jazian Gortman. He's ranked 25th in the 2022 class. He is a stud, a true dog on O and D who can score from anywhere. Playing with Team CP3 (NC) 16u EYBL this Summer, Jackson carries offers from the likes of Clemson, South Carolina, Georgetown, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. After finishing the season being named all-state, the 6-foot-9 sophomore has also been in contact with North Carolina and NC State. Jackson, who is a skilled forward from Columbia (S.C.) Ridge View High, did not grow up a fan of any one school, however his father is a big Tar Heels fan so Jackson grew up very familiar with the program. Jackson is the No. 29 ranked prospect in the 2023 class. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/shaw-s-takeaways-the-savage-academy

The 6-foot-9 2023 prospect has a very projectable frame with nice length and surprising pop. As the game tips, you see the rebounding and the weak side rim protection, but you also see someone who can handle the ball, initiate the offense, grab and go, and then create shot opportunities for himself in the half court. Jackson is carrying offers currently from South Carolina, Clemson, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Georgetown. He says North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas Tech are the programs that haven't offered who are on him the hardest. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/the-shaw-awards-frank-martin-basketball-camp

Can we please stop putting info that isn't pertaining to Kaiden Rice in the Kaiden Rice thread? It's confusing and a little disrespectful.

It might be that because he is a "big time" recruit and that we have Kaiden on our team, people believe that Kaiden might have some influence is the reason why they may put him in Kaiden's feed. I don't know; I'm just grasping for straws.

I don’t think Rice will have any effect on his decision at all.

One prospect is quickly climbing the UNC Basketball program’s big board for the 2023 recruiting class. Five-star power forward G.G. Jackson is becoming a priority recruit for Hubert Davis as he looks to lock down his first commitment in the 2023 cycle. Jackson has been visited by UNC, Duke, NC State, Georgetown, South Carolina and Virginia among others over the past week or so as things are starting to pick up. keepingitheel.com/2021/10/04/unc-basketball-5-star-target-dishes-recent-visits-tar-heels/

The story of the event was the performance of Jackson against Montverde. Jackson, the No. 10 prospect in the 2023 class, was able to go head-to-head with the No. 4 prospect in Kwame Evans. While Evans started the game on Jackson, they had to switch Dariq Whitehead onto him about midway through the first half. The 6-foot-9 junior showcased his ability to create off the bounce, finish at the rim, and even stepped into a couple of jumpers. Jackson ended the game with 27 points (2-3 from three) and seven rebounds. Even at No. 10, it is looking like that may be too low. “It was a first for me, being in a college arena while the players were there with a crowd,” Jackson said about his most recent visit to North Carolina. “It was an amazing atmosphere. I had the legend, Roy Williams, behind me; I kept looking over my shoulder, but I didn’t want to make it weird. I got to see how their players play and how I could fit into the system. They get their big guys the ball a lot; they stretch out, get the rebounds and push it up the floor.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/shaw-s-takeaways-made-hoops-southeast-preview

Jackson is the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2023 class, and we have come to expect versatile and dominating performances from the 6-foot-9 forward. Jackson delivered as he stepped into multiple 3-pointers and attacked the basket for ferocious dunks. Jackson’s recruitment is just starting to take shape as he has had a consistent line of high major coaches in his gym this fall. Jackson was able to make it up to North Carolina for its Late Night with Hubert Davis event. “It was a first for me, being in a college arena while the players were there with a crowd,” Jackson said. “It was an amazing atmosphere. I had the legend Roy Williams behind me; I kept looking over my shoulder but I didn’t want to make it weird. I got to see how their players play and how I could fit into the system. They get their big guys the ball a lot, they stretch out, get the rebounds and push it up the floor.” Jackson has been busy visiting campuses this fall. He has taken trips to Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, Clemson, Virginia Tech as well as being on campus at North Carolina and South Carolina multiple times. As the high school season is starting, the visits are slowing down some but he does have one more visit scheduled. “I am still trying to set dates for other visits, but I do have a visit set with Georgetown the first week of November,” Jackson said. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/shaw-s-takeaways-the-glymph-league

WHY THE SEASON AHEAD IS IMPORTANT: Jackson’s star has risen significantly in the past six months. In fact, some here at Rivals see him as a contender for the No. 1 spot in his class. So while that discussion has already begun behind closed doors, what he does as a junior will ultimately determine how far such talks progress. Already ranked as a five-star prospect, Jackson shined in a recent game against a Montverde Academy squad stocked with high-major talent, scoring 27 points and grabbing seven rebounds. His current No. 10 ranking is starting to look a bit too low, but how high he rises will be determined in the months ahead. North Carolina and South Carolina are thought to be two of the major players in his recruitment. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/i-ve-got-five-on-it-prospects-with-a-lot-on-the-line-this-season

UNC looking like lock for Duke basketball recruiting target It seems likely Duke basketball will fall to UNC in at least one 2023 race. Following a trip to Durham in June, Ridge View (S.C.) power forward Gregory Jackson was among the first in his class to receive a Duke basketball recruiting offer. And then a few weeks ago, Blue Devil head coach-in-waiting Jon Scheyer plus assistants Chris Carrawell and Nolan Smith gave the 6-foot-8, 210-pound five-star some special attention by sitting courtside at one of his practices. Last week, renowned national recruiting insider Andrew Slater tweeted a “lock” emoji and gif to imply that, in his mind, UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis and his crew have the key to the Jackson jackpot. Then this week, Eric Bossi of 247Sports explained his thinking in subscribing to pretty much the same observation: “Jackson recently took what by all accounts was a great visit to North Carolina. Sources throughout the industry have been buzzing since, and the word is that Carolina is the team to beat. Skilled, bouncy, and still just scratching the surface of how good he can be, Jackson would be a monster pickup.” But Bossi didn’t completely count out the competition, including the Duke Blue Devils: “I do feel that he’ll take more visits with Georgetown coming up and others like Duke, South Carolina, and Virginia in play. Ultimately, though, I really like the Heels’ chances…I’ve gone ahead and logged a Crystal Ball pick in their favor.” balldurham.com/2021/10/27/unc-lock-duke-basketball-recruiting/
