I appreciate your enthusiasm, but this is overreaching. First, you might want to revise this to read greatest player and college coach; otherwise, Bill Russell, Larry Bird and Jerry West might have something to say about it. And even going with college coach, well, there was this guy who was an All American at Purdue who became a pretty fair coach. His name was Wooden. It wasn’t literal. You don’t tell a guy that is extolling his wife publicly to you that she’s not as hot and pleasant as Jessica Alba. This is a GU board, how bout you save that energy for those people who are incessantly negative? I'm not too keen on incessantly negative or incessantly positive, particularly if they aren't accurate, and this wasn't particularly close. Why not just say that Ewing is the greatest player and coach of all time, that would be just as accurate. Ewing's HOF status is sales pitch enough for a number of these kids. They aren't going to be taken in by flimflam.

I was going to reply to your comment with the link to the ESPN article that has Ewing number one former player now turned coach which is what I was trying to say. However, all of this is besides the point. I am glad that you responded to rockhoya because I recently was scolded by the admin accusing me of calling you a kid. I told them that I was saying "these kids" meaning the kids that are being recruited and I never referred to you as a kid. Anyways, regardless of all of that, I realize you can't communicate your ideas on here without being attacked or having your words misconstrued. I think you are intelligent enough to know that I never referred to you as a kid if you followed our correspondence on this subject matter. Anyways, I will be careful in the future in responding to others when they are responding to me. So, for a heads up, if I don't respond to a question that you might ask, just know that I am purposely avoiding your questions not out of disrespect but because I don't want anymore problems with the admins.

Patrick has shown that he has the program moving in the right direction. Georgetown, at one time, was a beacon for having a voice and for progress. It's Big John's legacy that, seemingly, Patrick is doing his best to honor. Especially now, I'm hoping the idea of being able to contribute to bringing that ethos back completely is enticing to younger guys. It's about time but Georgetown is going to need some help in getting there. Saying the right things and doing the right things help, for sure. But winning a LOT of games gets far more coverage.

Is this real life? What happened to the thread on Livingston? Yep… I’m just gonna repost my question from before the tangent since a lot of people got confidence when Kentucky is still in. What happened to Kentucky in this as they are one of the other “remaining” contenders with TSU (Kansas, and Memphis being the others but others feeling confidence they are likely done)? It is far from over and they have not signed any F players yet but with a couple of 5 star Fs on their radar

Livingston named MVP of Slam Vol. 3 game this past weekend.
Game included Keyonte George, Dariq Whitehead, Dereck Lively, amongst others.
Not a whole lot of D played, but he still looked mighty impressive.

I know you didn't refer to me as a kid. If you had, I might have taken it as a compliment, since my "kid" days are so far in the rear view mirror that I couldn't see them with a telescope. I'm guessing that I'm old enough to be your father, and Rock's too. Now let's put this behind us and stick to hoping that Livingston makes the right choice.

Garry Wilson - is there something I can't see? Something I don't know? Something I am too old to understand?

Gary Wilson with one R was Merlin's younger brother, another St. Anthony's guy who played 2 years at GU before transferring to I think, Coppin State? But I fail to see the relevance of that Gary Wilson to this thread, unless s4hoyas is suggesting we wouldn't have given Gary a scholarship had he not been Merlin's brother, and it's supposed to be relevant to the possibility that the Livingston bros are a package deal. If that's it, not really, since Gary was 3 years younger and wouldn't have been a necessarily promised scholarship in order for Coach Thomson to have brought along Merlin and most of his St Anthony's starters in his first recruiting class.

John and Lonnie Duren. This is more akin to a package deal than the Wilson bros. But I don't know that the Duren bros. were such a deal or not. The older brother of All-American John Duren, Lonnie Duren joined his brother on the varsity in 1976-77 following a post-graduate year at Augusta (GA) Military Academy. Injuries limited his first two seasons, with nine games over two season, but served as a reserve over his final two seasons, with a high of five points his senior season versus U.S. International.

My reference to Garry Wilson in this thread was inadvertent...no conspiracy theory...had just been looking at the other thread where he was bought up and thought I was posting in it...BTW, Hoya 73, I do believe he spelled it with two Rs...I recall that because of how unusual it was...I guess I could be mistaken but we'll need to get an official response...BTW, SSHoya, I think that reference for Lonnie might have been Georgia Military College of Milledgeville, Ga...a college prep school that we (my HS) played in football my senior year (we won 27-0)...enough trivia for now...any recruiting news?

I didn’t see what he said about his previous visits but it doesn’t take too much random dot connecting to feel good about his recruitment. Especially the coinciding of another recruit committing to one of the others then him moving up his timeline right after our visit before his last two (Memphis who he said has been not great keeping in touch and tenn state) all in the same span, same week or weekend, idk? But anyway it sounds good what he has to say about the program, coaches, and it certainly helps if his whole family went and only say great things which influence too (also I think this is the second time he has spoken about the visit very positively)
