Welcome aboard, Tre.
Like him as a part-time 4. Love him as a small ball 5 enabling us to have more space and a different look.

Coach Crouch commented: "WELCOME HOME NEPHEW!!!!" on his decision post. Are they actually related?

Coach Crouch commented: "WELCOME HOME NEPHEW!!!!" on his decision post. Are they actually related? LOL. No! Best definition I could find.... "nephew Used in the dc area as greeting to younger males from older males. A term of endearment used to express respect and love for a younger african american male from their big homie. You got to be smarter than that nephew."

I think this is a better get than people realize. He plays athletically and hard; I love those attributes for a Patrick Ewing team. Love that he has a couple years left even more.

Welcome aboard, Tre. Like him as a part-time 4. Love him as a small ball 5 enabling us to have more space and a different look. Great pickup. From the few clips I've seen, the mobility and strength will be big pluses on both ends, especially on the defensive end. Kid appears to care about boxing out and being in position defensively while remaining active as opposed to just hunting blocks. Not as bouncy as some of the elite bigs but if he can run the floor and finish through contact, it won't matter. Excited for the improvement in versatility. If the numbers translate and he can give us a small uptick in that 3PT% and FT% (the latter being a Ewing emphasis so far through 4 years), could be a very big season for him. This add screams fit and well done by the staff for identifying and landing this commitment.

The highlights look great, and he lit up Xavier last year. Some struggles at times with turnovers but his real issue seems to be near constant foul trouble at times. Only 7 games all year with 2 or less PFs ... and he fouled out of 8 games and had four in 7 more. He looks athletic enough not to foul, so I'm sure our staff can teach him to not overcommit on things like pump fakes. Would actually fit the offense and defense we run better than a traditional center, IMO.

Though, younger guys might even use it too amongst their peers and playfully use it to call out some of their elders. But, yes...they don't have to be related for Crouch to refer to him as nephew as you elegantly stated and yes it's primarily a DC thang though others outside of DC have used it (Snoop Dogg has used it a lot in the past).

I think this is a better get than people realize. He plays athletically and hard; I love those attributes for a Patrick Ewing team. Love that he has a couple years left even more. He can definitely explode for us as he showed his ability against BE comp in Xavier with well over a double double. Also I too love the fact that we’ve gone after a couple of transfers that have more than 1 year (Carey and now King) as it becomes less of a band aid and more of a late addition that can bond and contribute. Hopefully both stay for both as it is still tbd for confirmed Carey. The versatility is a huge plus since Mutombo, Billingsley and Sibley are still question marks and each of their emergences will dictate where King dominates which he can do at both 4 and 5.

Welcome aboard Tre!
Gives the roster a HUGE amount of flexibility going forward. Ideally would love to see him as small ball 5 but if a center takes a leap then he can definitely slide over.
He'll be on the floor for as many minutes as fouls allow. Great addition.
