We are not a marquee program at this point - hence the scheduling issues. The sad, lonely life of a provocateur. You better be careful bigsky cause Beans loves this guy. You can't say anything about hoyaboya or Double 97 cause Beans will have a damn heart attack and run to these guys defense like he's married to them. So be careful what you say about hoyaboya.

Would it have been nice to have a flashier game mixed in? Sure. But considering how young/new the Hoyas will be it seems reasonable, and unlikely to hurt our SOS much.

Only truly bad game is Howard with kenpom is Howard at 314. Dartmouth, American, and Longwood should be in the 200s Siena, UMBC, South Carolina, and TCU in the 100s. Hard to look at last year with the screwy schedules, but I think it could be reasonable for South Carolina and TCU to sneak below 100 and turn into good games as well.

Gut reaction was "meh," but on second glance it's not too bad. Getting the win over SDSU and playing USC instead of Saint Joseph's would go a long way. I still wish we had a more exciting BIG EAST/Big 12 matchup.

Looks like a fine schedule to me given the expectations for this team and how inexperienced it is. If Q stayed and we had a solid veteran PG then we could be talking about scheduling a flashy team but that just isn't where we are as a program. Georgetown should not be scheduling a blue blood until they themselves return to national relevance. A home and "home" with 12,000 Duke fans in the Capital One Center doesn't do anybody any good. The big thing is scheduling 150-250 and not 250-350 in the NET rankings. Still games that should be won fairly handily but avoids a damaging SoS.

I still wish we had a more exciting BIG EAST/Big 12 matchup. Same here I did not think it was very good from the start but as the announcement on Casual suggests, it is rounded in a way that can hopefully be good for the younger group to find their footing in wins (hopefully). Want to beat one of the 3 likely tournament teams in SDSU, Cuse, or USC and hope to enter the conference with 9 wins. Aiming for that 20 win mark and wanting a .500 or slightly above result in the conference (as conference will be heavier than the ooc). These are goals but idk if we will achieve them but they are not totally necessary to dance

I think it is fine. Howard, American & UMBC are the types of teams we should play if we can get some local games. The one I don't like is Longwood. They are low RPI and not terribly close by. That is the only one that screams out as weak. Since we have a lot of freshman that will have to deliver this year, I feel overall it is a good mix. The TCU, Cuse, SDSU, and South Carolina games are all major conference teams that will be solid tests. We need to be 10-1 with this schedule heading into BE play.

It's a step up from Ewing's first couple of years. My main concern is that we really only have 2 guaranteed chances at decent wins (SDSU, and Syracyse), and rather than having Longwood and Howard, I'd prefer to have just one. To get to USC, we likely need to beat SDSU, which will be an under 50% proposition at best. And St. Joseph's isn't a great draw, though should be a win.
I like that Ewing hasn't stocked the whole schedule with MEAC/SWAC, but unless some of these teams improve on their performance from last year, it's perhaps mediocre from an SOS perspective. Hopefully, a couple of the teams like TCU and South Carolina will improve on last year--that would boost the quality of this schedule. It puts us in a position where going 10-10 in the conference may or may not get us into the tournament, and I'd prefer it be a little stronger and offer more chances at good wins such that 10-10 is sufficient.

Since yet again we have a team with a lot of important new parts, I like that we get three fine-tuning games (with the opponents getting tougher from one game to the next) before the Wooden Legacy, then come back and have another fine-tuning game (Longwood) before the SC away game, then another “weak” opponent before Syracuse, and then another “weak” opponent before TCU.
I don’t like that we play a “during Finals” game, but so be it.
