Lunardi says Hoya win knocked Syracuse into the play-in game as one of the last 4 in. And screw Jay Bilas - he said we wouldn't be talking about Georgetown if Gillespie had played. Bilas is the same guy who said VCU shouldn't be in the tournament the year they went to the Final Four. The guy is a fool.

Anyone else flying the flag today? It’s been awhile, but it brings good vibes! I think mine needs to be ironed. Do you do that with synthetic flags?

I wonder why they changed it to Fri-Mon from Thur-Sun for the first weekend? They needed the extra time this week to ensure every one got to Indy and cleared protocols I believe. This plus just a reminder there can be changes to the bracket after Sunday. If a team gets to Indy and doesn't meet protocols, if they're an at large team from a multi-bid conference they would be replaced with the next team that was First Four Out. That's my understanding at least. That could happen on Tuesday and the replacement team would then need time to get to Indy. Lots of moving parts it will be a wild week.

It is based on body of work. Last 10 games used to be a criterion, but no longer is. I think over the last 6 weeks we are a top 30 performing team, bit we should end up under-seeded between 10-14. On Bart Torvik, we have been the 11th best team in the country over the last ten games. Our Net jumped 30 spots last night but still probably not enough that we'd be in without the automatic bid so that probably puts us on the 12 line I've been tracking Torvik after stumbling on it recently and looking back at Torvik rating and probability of and the Wins Above D1 Bubble and it a pretty good metric and has been a rather decent metric to consider with potential / probable outcomes. Going through some of the 7 and higher teams there are quite a few teams that could be relatively easy wins for Georgetown. It isn't until getting to the #3 seeds do things look more problematic as probabilities. I'm not running the probabilities just looking at things roughly.

With all the bid thieves, looks like the play-in games are starting to shift towards 11 seeds. Makes sense to me. Only small complication is that two other BE teams projected to be 5 seeds (Nova, Creighton). Might be some work to be done to ensure we don't see them in the 1st/2nd round as a 12 or 13. I could see us being pushed up to 11 if that becomes an issue.

The cost cutting at ESPN has very few left who know what they are talking about. But, they also cut their data / stats folks deeply, which was feeding some of their analysts. It is a shadow of what it was and more interested in hyping their conferences than solid understandings. CBS seems to be really solid. Fox Sports seems in the dregs with ESPN as well. Some of the talent at ESPN went to The Athletic, others to large publications with budgets and local sports networks, but the data / stats folks have really splintered broadly.

When SVP controls ESPN, just shows you how far they have fallen.

I dont know if there's a way to post it. But Dante's IG shows the team landing in Indianapolis...and they're all still understandably on Cloud 9.
