How do you guys think they will base our seeding? Will it be based upon our wins loss record or will it be based upon us being a tournament champion? How should it be based? It is based on body of work. Last 10 games used to be a criterion, but no longer is. I think over the last 6 weeks we are a top 30 performing team, bit we should end up under-seeded between 10-14. On Bart Torvik, we have been the 11th best team in the country over the last ten games. Our Net jumped 30 spots last night but still probably not enough that we'd be in without the automatic bid so that probably puts us on the 12 line

Top 11 is amazing. Let’s hope the form holds. As JT2 would say, defense travels.

If you look over the last several years, no tournament team ranked better than 60 did worse than a 12 seed. So now I am talking myself into 12 being our floor and maybe 11 being in play too. Last night's win, because of the sheer dominance, really helped the computer numbers a ton, to the point we probably wouldn't be far off the bubble had we still had to play another game to get the auto bid.

And , technically, conference champions can be in play in games and are every year, but, it is the 16th seed games and the bottom 4 conference champs. Hoping for an evening game on either Thursday or Friday so I don't have to practice sounding ill when I call out from work. The games are Friday through Monday this year - no Thursday games other than the “First Four”.

If we end up seeded #11 or #12, can we take out a couple of higher seeds as revenge for those games that shall not be named? 😉

Just over a week ago, I mentioned during the UCONN game that I looked forward to a year we could wake up on Selection Sunday and be arguing about seeding. I didn’t anticipate what a difference a week would make. The great thing is that we know we are in the field!! It’s a great feeling. I also am getting into this whole idea of being the underdog. For so many years, we have been the higher-seeded team trying to avoid upsets. Many times, we fell short. Now, we are the underdog team absolutely no one wants to play.
Everything I have been seeing projects us on the 12 line. I could see an 11 as a possibility or even an outside chance at a 10 if the committee gives us a benefit of the eye test. We are an underdog at this point, but not really a fluke. A lot of our numbers look like borderline NCAA Tournament numbers. Plus, we were playing quite well in the weeks leading into the BET. We needed very win this week to get to that point, though.
I do know this — no one is going to be excited to play us. And I am very excited to see who we get to play. I hope the team gets some good rest and plays with the same energy later this week that they had in New York.

I was initially seeing 13 and even 14 as possibilities, but I am thinking we cant be lower than a 12. Not for rewarding us, but just simply because it would not be fair for a 3 or 4 to get that matchup in the 1st round (the way we are playing now). Is it absolutely the case that because we are not an at-large team we cannot be in a play-in game?

My understanding is that we cannot be in a play in game. The last four at large teams play and the bottom four conference champs play in those. We will be an automatic bid and well above that bottom line.
In terms of opponents, a lot of folks are talking Texas Tech. I wouldn’t mind seeing that at all. One interesting possibility I just saw in USA Today — the chance that we could be a 12 seed facing off against Andy Enfield and USC. I would also love getting an upset win after that FGCU debacle years ago.

Is it absolutely the case that because we are not an at-large team we cannot be in a play-in game? Yes. The play in games are (a) teams holding the four lowest seeded automatic bids [which ends up being the SWAC/MEAC type conference auto bids] and (b) and the four lowest seeded at-large bids [we aren't at large, obviously]. So, we absolutely cannot be in the play-in games.

The funny thing is I took off Friday because of spring break and now I get a bonus activity.... although the wife won't see it that way....lol

Lunardi says Hoya win knocked Syracuse into the play-in game as one of the last 4 in.
And screw Jay Bilas - he said we wouldn't be talking about Georgetown if Gillespie had played.

I wonder why they changed it to Fri-Mon from Thur-Sun for the first weekend? They needed the extra time this week to ensure every one got to Indy and cleared protocols I believe.

Yea I’m watching too and I said “Oh f you Jay” lmao Why rain on the parade with a what if Bilas actively tried to move the conversation away from the Hoyas when it came up. As a fellow member of the North Carolina bar, I am assessing whether that is grounds for a disciplinary complaint against him...

Boeheim just said Oregon State and Georgetown have just played "surreal" basketball.
