Brooks has always been the most logical choice to be added as an assistant, IMHO. He's a young guy who recruits the area well and for whom it'd be a promotion. Remember when JTIII hired David Cox who was the DoBO at Pitt but whose star was on the rise? It's the same principle here. With X firing their head coach it seems even more likely. The only other reason I can think of for the delay would be if there are other dominoes that need to fall. For example, perhaps they think they might have a shot at Mike Pegues? But Pegues is also still a candidate for the GW head coaching job. Maybe if he doesn't get GW he'd come here, but if he does then we'll have to go to our plan B (someone like Kenny Johnson or Straughn, maybe). Anyway back on topic. Not only is Ward close with Brooks, I believe he is also close with Clinton Crouch. And I think that Crouch and Orr may swap roles, with Crouch becoming a full time assistant and recruiting on the road while Orr comes off the road and serves as a consigliere for Patrick. You would think that playing for his former high school coach at VA Tech would be enticing, and if he really liked Xavier he might consider playing for Miller even without Brooks. But if we had an assistant coaching staff of Nickelberry, Brooks and Crouch, I could see us being an interesting option for Ward even coming off such a rough season. Rb - just curious because I feel I have seen a few people post a similar thought. What signs/news/gossip gives you the impression about Orr stepping down from his current role? I do think it would be the right move and hope it happens but are you speculating or have more concrete evidence that could in fact happen? To be clear not questioning you at all...I know it's hard to read someone's intent on these board, it's a sincere question... I am only speculating, please don't put too much stock into anything I'm saying I've just always thought it made sense. Orr's specialty was never really recruiting. Even when he was the head coach at SHU, his team's played hard for him and overall he was a pretty solid coach, but he struggled to get the talent needed to compete in the old Big East. At this phase of his career--he'll be 64 next month--why not just let him focus on what he's best at? It's not that he's a dinosaur, and he's been involved in landing us at least a few solid recruits. But at his age, does sending out hundreds of text messages to 16 year olds really seem like what you want to spend your days doing? Or following their social media to try to get an edge in their recruitment? Because that's what the best recruiters are doing. And in my experience, for men around Orr's age group, that just doesn't come quite as naturally. Meanwhile, Crouch is very good at that. He's young, he's energetic, and he's active on social media. I think he'd have a much better odds of connecting with today's high schoolers. It just seems like a natural fit to better align both Orr and Crouch with their strengths. If Orr is able to keep the same salary but come off the road and focus his attention purely on what happens between the lines, and Crouch gets a promotion out of it, it can be a winner for everyone. My assumption was that that might be the plan when those two were kept and the others let go, and there's also been some speculation that Orr's role may change. But it seems that neither Ron nor Aidan has been able to confirm anything yet, so for now it's really just conjecture.

The rumor I'm just making up is that the second assistant will be Jay Wright.

How old is this photo considering Markelle Fultz is an active NBA player at the moment?

How old is this photo considering Markelle Fultz is an active NBA player at the moment? Orlando (Fultz's team) played at the Wizards on the 30th, with the 29th being an off day after playing in Cleveland on the 28th, so probably pretty recent...

Awesome! Good for the TT boys to get the scoop!!! We want more… For real.. If we didn't get that intel, I'd probably be feeling 80% chances for Tech considering he just visited there (and Mike Jones). But now i'm intrigued

Hey guys I know we had a horrible season but things are looking a lot better for our Hoyas 2022-2023. Ward? Murray and coach Brooks. Let’s go Hoyas! Agree Roc very excited. I know people will complain that Ewing is still here...and look I was not happy about him returning...but he is returning and to continue to bemoan the point I think simply isn't worth arguing about right now. We should all be collectively excited about the coaching changes, Murray and recent transfer player rumors and Ward news. I continue to say to the detractors (which includes me) isn't this ideal for all? If we bring in improved talent and begin winning great for all Hoya fans...if we bring in improved talent and continue to lose...then for all Ewing naysayers that is the ultimate sign he should not be the head coach here and there is no longer the need for some to defend him here. For such an awful last season any good news should be welcomed here...
