Virtually, a who’s who of cheaters. Always interesting when LSU shows up late in a recruiting battle and still makes a final list for a player. I guess we will see what happens later today.

Based on other posts if we are clearly out of this conversation personally I am rooting for Xavier. I know it may feel like a kick in the teeth if he now goes to another Big East team but I have always been of the mindset that a strong Big East is good for Georgetown for numerous reasons. The other reason being if it's true that Xavier was potentially the front runner for Christian Watson I would have to assume this would give him some serious pause w/a player at the exact same position I'm his class committed. I think Watson would be a great fit for us...

When you go from a dream school to not listed in 1yr without adding a player in the recruits position, it comes across as being a little shady. If it was about better schools you would think the local dream school would at least still be included in the final list... I also agree with your assessment of Watson and also think he crosses off all the boxes for our recruiting needs. Local, SF and talented.

I told you guys earlier last week that I wasn't holding my breath for this kid. All that talk about Georgetown being his dream school yet it took him so long to make a decision?!!! Bogus!

Always glad to see the Big East get talent. Could have been much worse, and the "he is a done deal to VT" stuff is out the window...
Who knows what really happened. On to the next one...

I certainly don't know what happened and I have not heard/seen any specific rumors but it does seem like something happened over the last month or two in his recruitment with the Hoyas. Georgetown seemed to be near the top of his list and he had some positive things to say about the program and then suddenly Georgetown was not really involved. Either he decided the Hoyas were not a good fit for him, or the staff moved in another direction. I am sure there is an interesting story somewhere for this situation and what happened.

I've learned not to overreact to any individual recruiting decisions at this point.
I remember freaking out last year after we missed on Benny Williams, Cornish, and Allen consecutively as locals at an obvious position of need. I hadn't even heard of Jordan Riley at the time and there wasn't a thread on him. Just goes to show how quickly things can change. Combine that with the transfer market and it's just tough to get too worked up over any of these.

Looks like he's talking about Jordan Brooks. Has DMV ties and Xavier hired him a few weeks back as 'director of recruiting'.
Definitely bummed out, but like rhw said, last year pretty much taught me to just feel nothing until something good happens lol

I am not at all disappointed by this. Not a fan? Talented kid but still work to be done on his game. You can never have too many athletic 3s (as opposed to say... athletic 5s), but I think we've got at least 4 seasons worth of them on our roster already (AM, JR). Oh - and that building smell around this recruitment. If we strike out with this class (there's no reason to think we will), maybe I'll do a bigger post-mortem on this one. But I think we'll be in just as good shape or better at the 3 and elsewhere (get me a shooter) when we're finished.

At the same time, what is stopping us from hiring our own "director of recruiting" to focus on the DMV area? If it's lack of resources, that's one thing. If it's lack of foresight or worse... apathy, that's not good at all.

If it's lack of foresight or worse... apathy, that's not good at all. Isn't Crouch considered to be Gtown's DMV insider? Crouch certainly has a lot of DMV connections via the Skills Society and being from DC. While he may focus plenty of time on recruiting, his title is Special Assistant to the Head Coach. Brooks is the Director of Recruiting for X. Beyond the 3 assistants who can recruit off campus, programs have a variety of staff sizes and position titles. Given the size of GU’s basketball budget, employing a Director of Recruiting would seem like a prudent move. IMO, the main issue with the staff continues to be Waheed, who went to Gonzaga and hasn’t done much (that is publicly known) in terms of recruiting going back to his time on JT3’s staff. And the DOBO should be a young up and comer who can seamlessly transition to an assistant position when an assistant moves on, like Smith at Duke and Nardi at Nova. There also needs to be a market for your assistant coaches for that to happen.
